Retail stores like where I work hate you Apple. I thank god that every damn device for the past three years has been the same size, but now you make it thinner so everyone has to start over again.
God fuck.
Why does your store hate them again? I'd think a store would appreciate the opportunity to sell new cases and such. But just so you know the third and fourth gen are slightly thicker than the second gen iPad. And this 128GB model is just a fourth gen with more storage, nothing more. They didn't make it thinner.

every year (or 6 months) they have to deal with a swarm of apple-tards foaming at the mouth for the newest iThing that just came out
every year (or 6 months) they have to deal with a swarm of apple-tards foaming at the mouth for the newest iThing that just came out
Surely that's Apple's fault for appealing to their costumers. They should stop.
A new one already?
Really?
Well Samsung bring out a new X every second Tuesday. It's good to see Apple refreshing their products with better technology, although this iPad generation is pretty crap, I'd rather buy a Samsung tablet at the present time.
What's even the point of buying apple products anymore if it's just going to be outdated two minutes after it was released
For the same reason people keep buying PC components even though they're already outdated by the time they're shipped to the store.
y So many people knowing so little about the reality of the technology world. The price tag is hefty, and even more so in the world of tablet computing. Ultimately this is will spark some "innovative" thought among other tablet and hardware manufacturers and the way they market and release their products. But hey, you could always just send ol' apple an email and maybe let them know how EXPENSIVE their recent tablet release is! I bet they aren't even aware! The truth is, this product is most likely not for you nor is it for much of the consumer market. This is a product that will more likely be marketed towards corporate business, and service industries. They aren't going hard for your money this lap around. They want your boss, his boss, all their friends, all the professors that taught them all; while we're at it lets set up your local elementary schools and government offices with them. This price difference and hardware upgrade can be just as easily justified to business customers, as the piss resistant compass camera case and two on sale class 10 SD cards the asshole at best buy upsold to your grandmother to was. The image so adamantly projected by the device manufacturers (and even more so with Apple) is that these products should fit easily and naturally into every aspect of everybody's life. There is a great fucking mass of reasons why this has the potential to be a giant step for Apple, as they are now able to market their product to a customer whom as of recently, is looking to possibly upgrade aspects of their workforce to be more work efficient, technologically supported, modern, and of course "stylish".
Previously, as started (perhaps more so implied by the wording of their official release) by Apple, this isnot a new generation, and will surely not be produced in the vast numbers seen in previous releases, and most likely wont be knocking on your TV screen in a way which you've seen before, for you to buy. That's what the Mini is on the horizon for.
Of course this my simply my opinion, do I have citations as to apples projected marketing plan? Naw. But you should put more abstract thought into why these releases are put forth, and not trip on your aharpdarp applez shit blergblergblerg ect.
Come on, this aint their first "ro-deh-o" cowgirls.
So.... why does the little one have a screw through its camera?
[editline]31st January 2013[/editline]
Oh cause its just the back casing.
So is that the only change for next gen? black spraypaint?
That depends. Your statements are all without any basis because you don't know how much Apple pays for NAND. They aren't like Samsung where they can make it themselves. They have to order it from other companies that need to make profit on it too. Then Apple needs to make profit as well, and their margins are much higher than most competitors. That is to say...they actually make money unlike competing companies that aren't Samsung. I'm not saying Apple couldn't lower the price and still make money, but your analogy comparing it to a Samsung SSD isn't a good one.
I've seen non-Samsung 128 GB SSDs for under $100, and that includes a dedicated circuit board, casing, marketing, and packaging on top of profit margins for the seller and manufacturer. Apple is charging $250 for something that almost certainly costs them less than $100 to do. I could understand maybe a $150 markup, and perhaps (not really) $200, but a whopping $250 more? It baffles the logical mind how people happily pay such a premium, unless those who do are all unaware of this. Of course, good job for Apple for managing to pull it off, not that it's something to be proud of in front of any ethical person. Something to proud of in front of shareholders I suppose, but what matters more to you as a person?

I really don't think they care at all when they earn money off of it.
It's basically the same reason designer clothes cost so much more than your local supermarkets own brand. Why do they do that? It's so unethical!!

Except designers generally change the design when they pile $250 on top.
Really, I don't know why people are trying to justify the price tag compared to the other iPads. Buy it if you want it - maybe you need 64GB extra, and you really want an iPad - but the price is just dumb.
when do preorders open?
The upside to them calling it fourth generation is that they're admitting that the retina new ipad was barely a change that doesn't even warrant a generation
I wonder when they'll be making an iPad MiniXL
Stocks are plunging and they confirmed a leak. Never heard of Apple doing such a thing before.
They've got $50 Billion in the bank. I think they'll be alright.
1. if you're looking for a tablet you aren't looking for a desktop

And that's supposed to excuse the pricing?
[editline]3rd February 2013[/editline]
I am glad they're getting rid of the old shiny look on their devices, matte black is wayyy better
from 2007 to 2013 apple has released six iterations of the iPhone
from 2009 to 2013 samsung has released 44 phones that carried the "Galaxy" label
[editline]30th January 2013[/editline]
so uh yea it's not the same thing at all. you're totally right.
apple has historically had a pretty coherent vision for their product. sorry, but "looking substantially different" is actually a bad reason to make a new phone.
incoming people posting pictures of the iphone 5
At many many different price ranges, specifications, designs...
Samsung don't work like Apple, but both systems seemingly work for them.
[editline]3rd February 2013[/editline]
With either company you're gonna have to upgrade eventually because of software limitations which may or may not be purposely fulfilled, which is pretty shit
it costs $250 extra to get a 128gb ipad over a 16gb ipad.
a 128 gb SSD costs $140 (samsung 840)
lol apple
This also isn't how flash memory works

They'll probably do a silver finish for the white one, a matte black for the black ones. It looks really good on the iPad mini.
Matte metal looks miles better than any glass backs like the ones they had on the 4 series, they were and still are hideous
$1000 for a fucking ipad. I mean what the fuck
But who doesn't want super 4G brand new advanced touch trackpad thinking casing technology???
edit: it's sarcasm

talk to me when apple actually advertises this shit.
what a stupid thread title, and an equally misleading image. the "new ipad" is simply the ipad 4 with 128GB of storage.

ffs, apple aren't even calling it a new ipad.
Well, it's Apple and we're on Facepunch so there's a lot of people just waiting for any occasion to complain about them.

i'm just astonished that so many people take the time to complain that people like apple products and pretend that whatever favorite OS of theirs is so much better
i didn't know personal preference wasn't a thing

why the fuck does pricing need to be excused/justified for a fucking premium version of a luxury consumer electronic? this isn't some ethical problem, you dweeb.
