Apparently pulling triggers on the shoulders of controllers translates to gun triggers.
It's clearly better than the Ouya controller
Anything is better than the Ouya controller.
I'm actually very interested in this. I would like to try one out before I buy one, though. I'm interested in seeing kiosks around in GameStops and such in the coming year.
My $25 cheapo Logitech controller is better than the Ouya's controller.
Knock it all you want but Logitech makes great shit.
Hooray, a controller. When I guessed that after the first announcement, I was kinda imagining something with motion control. Sorta like the Hydra? Although this is pretty cool too, I just hope the design improves.
I just wonder what the glowing ball was for. Just representative of their Steam "universe"?
Ookay, I think we always were like "Wow, that's stupid idea, Valve" first, but then everyone enjoys it.
TF2 hats, L4D2, new steam layout... Everything turned like that
TF2 is pretty shit now, i like new content but they've really overloaded it to the max, L4D2 wasn't a change or a stupid idea, the only controversy out of it was the censorship ordeal with Germans and Australians.
New steam layout was a major upgrade from the Green UI but they are in need of an upgrade, after the big picture their desktop UI sucks
So will this controller be able to match someone using a keyboard and mouse? I remember they couldn't do it with regular controllers like the dual shocks but this may be different.

So my finger is going to be vibrating while I'm aiming.
Thanks.

Big picture itself is really cool. I imagine their artists have been focusing more on the UI of big picture/steamOS since then. Steam is very cluttered at the moment, but at least it supports skins.

Maybe it's [sp]the fourth announcement[/sp].
...as if that would ever happen.
I don't know about you guys, but that looks really comfy to hold. The buttons are in the right place, and pretty much all the useful inputs from a keyboard are right there.
You can change the inputs so the controller can emulate different keys or forgo the thing entirely and use a mouse/keyboard.
And of course they've done their homework, they're fucking Valve. Plus, they've already said everything is subject to change during the console beta. I don't know what you were all expecting from a controller for a Valve console, but this looks like it'll do the job pretty well. I'm personally really hyped for this.

There are still some sort of shapes outside the steam logo, but it could be nothing except some random effects, I dunno.
Wow, all the people saying this is gonna be less comfortable.
Did you read the motherfucking announcement.
Ok? It's a specifically-made touchpad with increased precision and HAPTIC FUCKING FEEDBACK, you're gonna feel it more than an analog stick.

Precision doesn't mean shit if you're action buttons ARE RIGHT ABOVE ALL OF YOUR MOVEMENT BUTTONS.
There is literally nothing wrong with the current controller designs we have.

This is true, I touched a 360 controller once and now I'm an expert marksman.

It's almost like the controller design is what looks uncomfortable, and not the trackpads!

I'd say that's it, but go through all the announcement pages again. All the headers at the top feature the glowing thing, like planets revolving around a sun, including the steamOS logo. Is that really all it's supposed to be? A sun? Why did they update it every day?
This is true, I touched a 360 controller once and now I'm an expert marksman.
I once made a gun firing motion with my PS2 controller at my mother.
It took them months to clean the blood out of the carpet.

I have a question.
Usually the face buttons are on one side of the controller so that they are freely accessible with one thumb. This usually means the sacrifice of being able to look around while pressing these buttons but you are still able to move. Pretty much the entire market follows this standard and with it developers.
How is this going to work with fighting games? Y + Left Analog up
Edit:
Hell, it doesn't even have a D-Pad. Developers aren't going to like this.

damn you i was going to post that
Looks fucking horrible lol and you thought the xbox one looked bad
I mean considering every usb controller follows the standard model and you can just buy them it makes sense to innovate a little
-snip, so late-
I'm convinced Valve could make a good iPod dock/speaker system design.
To be quite honest it looks really ugly. But it's not like the current joysticks are that great for fps games to begin with. So I'm glad there trying out something different.
It's never going to replace a mouse thats for sure. And I'm also not saying this will be any better then a joystick but I will hold my judgement for it to when it have actually been tried out.
Valve is either batshit crazy or really onto something with this controller. Given their track record, I expect the latter. Can't wait to try it for myself.
This sucks
Valve sucks
I don't care one bit how it looks as long as it feels good and works well ingame. I've never been satisfied with joysticks or digital buttons anyways, so maybe this is what I've been waiting for.
