Thanks for that.
Valve wouldn't be doing this if they didn't feel like the controller was really good in their in-house testing.
I'm going to trust them on this.

I don't trust any in-house testing, ever.
Guess I'll have to get fightpad/stick after all.
I respect valve but fucking lol
I think it looks quite interesting. Doesn't matter if it is a success or not. More varied designs are always a good thing since in the end we will end up with something superior to what we had before. No wonder companies don't take risks when people sperg about anything different. (Or too similar)
Put your entire hand under your laptop with your thumb on your trackpad.
It actually works in a strange way.
Ill only get it if it comes with a code for a hat for tf2

Now keep your hand in that position and reach for the space bar without accidentally moving the mouse.
I'd say that's it, but go through all the announcement pages again. All the headers at the top feature the glowing thing, like planets revolving around a sun, including the steamOS logo. Is that really all it's supposed to be? A sun? Why did they update it every day?
They removed something that was negatively affecting progression through the game, I think they made the right decision there.

And as I have said before to this, I still managed to get lost.
all they have to do is make the pad buttons 4 way instead of 1 way
bam fixed
people would still complain though

The joke is that they didn't I believe. That whole section was confusing as fuck.

for pressing left mouse you need right hand
and for right mouse left hand
why not left mouse for left hand and right for right
Trackpads seem like a fundamentally poor idea. I understand they've practically been forced to use them, since all of the games are designed to work on a mouse, but I don't know ANYONE who is satisfied with gaming on a trackpad, let alone two?
If they're capacitive, then they aren't even going to work if your hands are wet. Let alone the problem of seemingly cooking in 3/4 buttons on the trackpad alone. Even more is the addition of the problem of cramming all of the buttons into the middle so you need to use two hands to interact with all of them.
Seems like innovation for innovation's sake and not a good design, in my opinion.
Ookay, I think we always were like "Wow, that's stupid idea, Valve" first, but then everyone enjoys it.
TF2 hats, L4D2, new steam layout... Everything turned like that
I didn't enjoy any of that garbage

Trackpads are much more precise, the trackpad has to be accurate though.
I'd MUCH rather play on a trackpad, imagine controlling your mouse with a controller, oh god.

Its actually a lot more fluid and easier than you'd think. Whenever I start using PCSX2, I use my controller to get everything going.
This is definitely the kind of thing I'd need to try before making a final judgement of it, it does look like it could be quite a nice piece of kit but i'm skeptical of certain elements such as the trackpads.
Then again, i'm sure they've done their research; so i'll try and remain optimistic about it.

I am not sure if this thing can even be called innovation, It's more like a step backwards.
From all the talk about how they were focusing on hardware I was under the assumption they were working on something in the vein of the Hydra, because VR is where PC games are going.

Controllers have literally been laid out this way forever...
Don't see why some people are saying the design looks uncomfortable.

That looks pretty comfortable to me.
Besides, this isn't the final design and if the Machines and the easy-hack are any indication, there will probably be multiple configurations.

Now imagine if they kept the maze in.
Hell, it doesn't even have a D-Pad. Developers aren't going to like this.
Developers don't need to like this or do anything really, it's implied this controller can connect to any game, including games that aren't controller ready.
For future reference I've taken the liberty of locating the jump button, seeing as nobody can find it.

If it weren't the shoulder buttons and the center touch screen, i'd say this looks like a Sega Genesis or even Sega Saturn gimmick controller. :v:
