Good. Can't wait to see what awesomeness this will bring.
how do i even downgrade, i have like 3.70 or something? is there some easy guide anywhere? because all i find is some guide made by a 12 year old who cant even explain it
Holy tits, yet another reason to get a PS3. Wish games weren't so horrendously expensive around here, though. Time to start saving!

you will have to make sure it's an old one, this doesnt really do anything for new ps3's
Should I buy a Ps3 now or wait a little while?
No better time than the present. I'm getting mine on the 30th.
More keys, APPLDR 3.65-4.30 http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=44917
they might be useless though, we'll see if they are fake or not
Is there any easy way to install stuff on the PS3? I can't find any good tutorials for putting emulators and the like on.
It's been said before, backwards comparability was at a hardware level. If you can't do it now, you wont do it later.
Sorry :c I too miss my old fat ps3 that could play PS2 games.
My family has one of the fats that still works.
But I can't have it because douche brother who rarely uses it.
Using a fat PS3 to play PS2 games? I actually have a fat PS2 to do that. Get on my level.

PS2 isn't HD, and it's another box you have to put somewhere. I have both a PS2 and a PS3, but it'd be much easier for me for it to all be in the same unit.

Hah. HD. The true PS2 experience is playing on a 13" CRT.
I love shit like this. I remember when I got Homebrew apps installed on my Nintendo Wii. All the sudden, I could do whatever I wanted; watch DVD's, emulate classic games, and even run Gecko codes (kinda like a Game Shark). When Nintendo finally patched it, I pretty much never touched the Wii again. :v: Why can't we have a nice open-source console? What happened to OUYA?
When Nintendo finally patched it
I don't think you understand how the Wii works.
There are currently 6 different exploits for enabling homebrew on the latest System Menu, since games run in kernel mode and cannot be updated to fix these exploits.
Wondering about how efficient the PS3 will be at bitcoin mining with full access to the hardware & driver for the gpu.

just think. you might make like $20 before your PS3 poops itself

The hype died off.
It was a joke either way.

Cellminer does about 26.6 MHash/s using the SPEs and both PPE cores.
The GPU in PS3 (GeForce 7800 GT) can't be used for mining as far as I know.

Sony didn't develop the GPU drivers very much at all.
So when can i get to modding my PS3? :v:
I want free games dammit!

If you're on 3.55 you can just download the 4.21 CFW and patch it via the recovery menu. If you're on 3.56 and above you need to buy a hardware flasher. Either a E3 flasher or progskeet (depending on if your PS3 uses NAND or NOR).
Also I'd suggest not flashing the 4.21 CFW if you have a slim ps3. There were a shitload of bricks on slim consoles with the Rogero 4.21 CFW. I flashed it on my fat 60 GB ps3 and it works great. Even PSN works.
To load PS3 game backups you need a PKG file called multiman, just google it. Install that via the PKG installer in your XMB and you'll be able to run backups of PS3 games.
Also Multiman isn't just for backups of games, it also has built in emulators and various media players.
I didn't pirate any PS3 games, I only backed them up and used them for my own personal purposes.
[editline]26th October 2012[/editline]
Oh also, anyone who wants the 4.21 cfw on their PS3 slim be patient. Rogero is currently testing a new version of his firmware that hopefully won't brick the slim models.
Uhh but what if i have 4.30?

I see, and will there ever be easier/free ways to mod 4.30 in the future?
Any hope?

Wait for someone to make a 4.30 cfw
Either that or fork some money out and buy a hardware flasher.

You are the exact reason homebrew is frowned upon by a good portion of people. you shouldn't see this as an opportunity to get "free games" like all the other imbeciles and kids who will undoubtedly use it, but as a chance to see what the PS3 can do, what we can do for it and the various interesting ways the Cell can be used.
Piracy harms everyone in the long run. Fuck off and don't touch CFW if all you are going to do is load "backups" you downloaded from the Internet.

It was a joke, calm down..
It was a joke, calm down..
Joke or not. That shit ruined CFW last time (along with the hundreds of skiddies using cheats online). It's quite an serious topic and really needs to be treated as such. How can game developers and publishers respect us as users if we can't respect their work by not taking it from them?
you shouldn't see this as an opportunity to get "free games"
Aren't there a bunch of little developers making free homebrew games for the PS3? Wouldn't that mean it's an opportunity for "free games" besides the obvious?
