Doesn't that fall under Parody? If so Ferrari could fuck off
How about you'll likely never be able to buy one :v:
Why does Ferrari think they have the legal right to tell someone to stop doing what they want with THEIR car?
Ferrari doesn't own it anymore. They have no right. If he wants to make it electric blue and have nyancat on it, that's none of Ferrari's business.
My ISP doesn't send me letters to my house telling me to stop downloading so much porn. Western Digital doesn't send me letters to my house telling me to stop using their hard drives for all this free porn. Why should Ferrari get to tell this man to stop abusing his car?

I don't get it either. Maybe it's because Deadmau5 is somewhat famous and Ferrari thinks that the custom badges might somehow damage their image? That's the only explanation I could think of as to why they would even bother issuing a C&D.

That's not his problem. He bought the car (I would assume straight out with cash, not financed) so it doesn't matter worth a damn what his car does to their image. It's not their concern.
what the fuck that's his own fucking car
Doesn't that fall under Parody? If so Ferrari could fuck off
I am not sure if fair use applies to trademark placement. Otherwise I am pretty sure we would see a plenty of Adodas shirts and such.
Ferrari has always been a bunch of stuck-ups, concerned by their so-called "legendary" image...
I mean, I don't like the paintjob or the emblems, in fact I think they're just terrible. But he bought the car, so why can't he do what the fuck he wants with it ?
That's also why Ferrari hasn't been in games such as Need for Speed for years (except in Rivals I know), because they didn't want to be associated with illegal street racing.
At least now they understand games can be profitable for them, because people'll want to buy them to drive the LalalalalaFerrari (if you understand a bit of French you know why this car's name is so stupid)
It was a cringey awful paintjob, but Ferarri didn't really need to say anything, it was his car
Doesn't that fall under Parody? If so Ferrari could fuck off
Fair use is for copyright not trademark.
If he ever decides that he will buy a new one, I hope he gets into a high speed accident. Head on collision with justin bieber's lamborghini. That will be the day.
"Italian super-car super-star massacre"

Yeah but it doesn't make sense since the car is an actual Ferrari.
It's like buying a genuine Adidas shirt and replacing the i with an o, how would that be trademark infringement?
Reminds me of this Ferrari from Tom Boonen (a professional cyclist):

He crashed it during his first ride:

Isn't this protected under Parody laws?
[editline]29th August 2014[/editline]
It is. So this C&D could be ignored and they couldn't do anything at all about it
fuck off ferrari
yea the car is painted like a piece of shit but you can't use a C&D on it. he bought the car he can do whatever the fuck he wants
Because Ferrari want to keep the appearance of their cars and overall company image looking sleek and elegant, rather than having cars that look like they belong to a four year old.
Money is money. Nothing else really matter all that much.
Appearance can be bought. That's basically what marketing is.
It's not painted, it's wrapped. A wrap is far, far cheaper, quicker to put on and quicker to take off. The original paint job is still under the wrap, he could literally peel it off in a few hours where as repainting it would cost him tens of thousands more and would probably take several weeks to get done.
That's why Joel doesn't really give a shit, because it will cost him nothing but a few hours to remove everything back to the way it was when he first bought it. In his coffee run videos he does on his youtube channel he has been planning to remove it eventually, and (paraphrasing here) he said he mainly kept it on after gumball because he was too lazy and it made people laugh

It's the same reason that they don't put their cars into games that show physical damage. They don't want people crashing up their cars, and they don't want people putting in designs that would possibly insult their name.
I mean they are already rich enough to buy every other major super car producer, what would they care about one sale? Especially if it has god awful designs that I wouldn't even print on my totaled 96 cavalier sitting in a junk lot. It would make you look like a complete fool.
They sent a letter, Not a court order. They were merely asking him (strongly) that he should remove it. They had no case on him unless he signed something when buying the car that allowed them to send these letters and mean something.
They sent more than just a letter; they sent a C&D which means their lawyers are antsy. But they know they can't do more than send fluffy threats.
I actually loved that paintjob
if you saw a nyan cat ferarri, you almost definitely saw deadmau5
The emblem is trademarked. They can't do shit about the paintjob, or if you remove the emblem or replace it with something entirely else, but the word "Purrari" and cat on it's hind legs replacing the Ferrari horse are quite undeniably reference to the original.

Last I checked, parodies were entirely legal.

From a legal perspective why does it matter what trademarks he plasters it with?
It'd only be a problem if he was producing and selling the trademarked emblems.
Why would you do something like this to such a beautiful car.
Say what you want, I really do like the shade of blue it's in though, and at least it's really well done for what it is :v:
He already took the wrap off the car

He did it to spite people who thought it was absolutely terrible, because for some reason deadmau5 fuels his ego by spiting people off the internet
also wraps are actually really good for your car because it preserves paint and stops rust

He was selling the car. If I develop a product, AND develop a world famous logo for it, can you just make your own versions and sell them? No. Do you think you could open a Starbocks coffee shop with a green and whilte logo and not have problems?
Guys, the founder of the company would've done the same thing.

If I buy a macbook, but a pear sticker on the back, and later resell it as such, am I damaging apple's brand? He's not building a knockoff brand, he's reselling ONE car that just happens to have a parody sticker on it.
