Anyone who blindly defends Julian Assange is the equivalent of a Justin Bieber fan.
So the whole of facepunch blindly defends Mr Assange?
well their facebook page got taken down.
Cue all the wannabe rebels complaining about their freedom of speech being infringed upon.

Where the hell did he say that
This is getting a bit out of hand. I mean, I believe that the government is just being a bunch of assholes trying to cover up their crimes by capturing him. But, I don't feel like "going to war" for it. Hurting innocent peoples banking services isn't the way to do it.

Good point. "Operation Payback" is what they call it.

The banks could have easily refused to do it.
Why DDoS visa? I know they froze wikileak's account or whatever, but what if some 80 year old guy that has no idea what wikileaks is, is trying to get his retirement money off visa but can't? It just punishes a ton of harmless people.

Why do you think governments place trading sanctions on other countries? All it's going to do is hurt the people, right?
Oh hey
I dont SUPORRT THIS
i DO support wikileaks
Both sides of the argument are fucking retarded.
He's not a savior or some shit, or the "messiah of truth", but he's also not a terrorist and definitely doesn't deserve to be assassinated for posting stuff on a website.

And anon isn't helping.

Correction: Both extreme sides of the argument so forth.
wow operation payback has 20k followers on twitter.
I really wish there was a way to determine the demographics of the supporters.
I wonder if the conspiracy nuts are a minor portion or a major portion.

What good do you think will come out of this? A bunch of angsty teens thinking they can single handedly take down the goverment with a DDoS on its website?
Yeah they're forgetting the point of wikileaks is to remain objective. Its such a messy situation, but it deserves credit. It is the largest security leak in modern history.
Wikileaks was never objective, in the sense a journalism site like the New York Times is.
I like having LOIC on my computer.
Shit program. lern2hping
Fuck anonymous if they somehow manage to disrupt VISA, I have some payments that I need to get through.
You're merely a casualty of cyber war, be thankful you aren't a casualty of a real one. Anonymous could never muster up an army in real life, but online... online is where the underdogs rule. The internet is the one place where the governments lose. My thanks go out to these White Hats, I hold them in higher regard then soldiers.

Anonops.net is down. Whoever is responsible for this made a bad move.
WikiLeaks is illegal! It needs to be shut down!
;26571529']WikiLeaks is illegal! It needs to be shut down!
Great idea lets hope it will not backfire!
Oh wait....
Wikileaks is currently mirrored on 1289 sites (updated 2010-12-08 19:07 GMT)
I know, if we did shut it down it would be put back up. But I do think it needs to be stopped.
Just the right time to make some christmas dreams dont come true.

Anon knows that there must be sacrifices for the greater good. And by "greater good," I mean, "random antisocial behavior masquerading as activism for the sole reason of creating chaos."
In a way, it is creating sides where wikileaks tried to remain indifferent and objective, or atleast appeared to. Subscribing to this 'cyber war' effort is creating loads of friction.
I think Wikileaks are staying out of the whole "cyber war" stuff (at the moment). According to an article on The Guardian's site the people involved "may or may not agree" with Wikileaks but oppose any censorship of the internet so imo this would happen to any high profile site that people attempt to censor.
Welp, the VISA site is officially down :/
This is way out of hand. I really think that the military should take cyber and real life action against this.
How do you expect the military to take action? Back-track each and every individuals IP and bust down their doors? I find it hard to believe that any actual PHYSICAL action can be taken.

Blockade all shipments of Hot Pockets, Cheetos, and Monster.

Track the important ones down and make them stop. If there are any important ones other than Assange, if not i guess there is not any way.
Read into DDoS and you will see that all there logs are useless and filled with fake IP's.
Not even god can fix it now.
