I find it funny that anyone who says they're even thinking about getting an iPad gets drowned in boxes.
Since when has MS done everything right?
Windows 7.
Can it make a phone call?
Only via Skype over Wifi, assuming Skype decides to port that app.
The iPhone actually does more than the iPad, and it's less than half the size.
I'm not a Microsoft fanboy, but I know what I like and I know what works. I've been using XP for 7 years and Windows 98 for 3 before that. Microsoft makes mistakes, yes *cough*NT, 2000, ME, Vista*cough* but they also make good operating systems like 95, 98, XP, Windows 7, and lets not forget the cornerstone of home computers, MSDOS and 3.0/3.1
Sure, sometimes Microsoft has problems with stability, but their Operating Systems are well worth it.

Explain how Vista and 2000 were mistakes, in detail.

Windows 7.

Yes, they have finally made Vista into something nice. I commend them for that.
Meanwhile, Internet Explorer has been through some serious security problems, Windows Mobile 6.5 completely bombed, and they continue to charge for DLC that PC gamers get for free (not to mention their contributions to the potential demise of dedicated servers).
They do some nice things and I respect them, but my fanboyism is reserved for people who don't nickel-and-dime me, and people who would never release a product that they weren't really passionate about, regardless of deadlines. Valve seems to fit that bill. Bethesda. Maybe even Google (maybe). MS? not so much.

We're in agreement then. Have a friendly.
If the iPad had a dual camera (one in back, one in front, like DSi, for skyping and whatnot), multitasking, phone calling capabilities, all petty cheap additions, then maybe it would've had a chance.
Still, people are stupid and like new gadgets. I don't doubt there will be a huge line at the Apple store when these thing come out.
The average American consumer (especially Apple fans) are really, really dense.
Are people actually going to buy the iPad?
My friend said he's getting it on the day of release, and that he can't wait to make people jealous with it.
:geno:
Am I the only one who doesn't see the point in these mobile clusterfucks? I'm happy with a regular Zine5 phone.
Too big to be portable, too crappy to be used as a desktop. Apple has finally made a product even their fans might not want.
Holy fucking shit, it doesn't even have a headphone jack?
..I am.. I'm speechless...
I can only link to this CollegeHumor Video
It actually does.
The guy who posted that is a dumbass.
But it won't because people love to buy the Apple brand. Apple could release a literal piece of shit and it'd sell.
iPoo :(
The iPad is such a smoldering piece of shit that even Apple fanboys are starting to look at it and go "What the hell is the point of that?"
Dont forget "Is It A Good Idea To Microwave This:
Regardless of the outcome, the answer will be a resounding Yes
I don't see why the don't have USB ports. Wouldn't that increase the sales? Same with the flash thingy.

Because they probably had an ideal size/weight.
I had an opportunity to beta test this and keep the iPad for free after. I said no.
1.Take the offer
2.Give feedback
3.Sell
4.Make some money
[editline]10:25PM[/editline]
Seriously you lost out.
I had an opportunity to beta test this and keep the iPad for free after. I said no.
I would have kept it.
Then sold it.
For twice the price.
Saying it's a special edition offered personally by Jobs.
Because they probably had an ideal size/weight.
I care more about the "content" i am getting. Not it's size. But you are probably right.
I care more about the "content" i am getting. Not it's size. But you are probably right.
Not everyone does though.
Apple knows what the majority of the market wants.
For some reason kids in my AP class think the iPad is cool because you can put books on it. Or something like that. They were talking about getting them for college and I was lolin in my head.
I hope they all malfunction and send a wave of glass shrapnel into the faces of those gay, jetro-turtleneck mavericks that you would see in metropolitan areas and in cyber cafes.
EDIT: Or at least have all of their screen cracked

That's nice. You seem like a nice fellow.
so what is preventing someone from making a web browser app for the app store that supports flash?
I think it'll do good sales judging by the Apple fanboys I've spoken with.
They think it's like Apple just invented internet.
The reason why this version of the iPad doesn't have any of the basic features or anything else is so when you buy this 6 months later they can release one with a headphone jack (apparently it has one).
Then 6 months later release one with a camera.
Then 6 months later release one with a camera that can do video.
Then 6 months later release one with a SD card slot so you can actually get the pictures off the thing.
Then 6 months later put a camera flash on it.
Then 6 months later release the next iP.O.S. and everyone spend another stupid amount of money.
What Apple does best is taking things that are out there and making them simple and cool. From most of our perspectives, we don't care about all the little things that make it 'innovative' instead we see it for what it can do. There isn't exactly a right or wrong to this, but for most people, the novelties of the iPad are not worth the price.
What Apple does best is taking things that are out there and making them simple and cool.
Cool no, simple yes. I did already say it in this thread, but dumbing shit down seems to be Apple's specialty. That, and hype. They get everyone touching themselves with anticipation before release, and once it finally is, people are too stupid to actually research their shit before cartwheeling to the nearest store and buying it out.
Uh, this just in:
The iPad is just an oversized iPhone. Same DRM permeating every kilobyte, same shitty "apps" that you can only buy from Apple, same Fisher-Price level of dumbed-down simplicity, and same advertising budget that exceeds actual R&D budget.

Old news, but yeah, I totally agree.

Apple.
