However, considering all the benefits it has over Live Gold accounts, I can consider it nowhere near as troublesome. Apparently they're also trying to make Gold account subscriptions $5 a month for the Xbox One as well, but I have no confirmation on that. And when it comes to things like Call of Duty, playing them online makes me a miserable individual because of how 'I spawn, I die' it can get for me. It's cutting off half of the console and charging you to rent it, because honestly, that's what you're doing by buying the Xbox One. You're signing a contractual rental agreement and nothing more.

PS4 - $400 Eye - $60 PS + - $50(?) = $510 Xbox One - $500 Xbox Live - $50 = $550 $40 isn't much of a difference looking at a price of a game console. If one (just looking at price) can afford the PS4, they could easily be able to dish out another $40-$50 for an Xbox One (if they wanted to)

The PS Eye is literally an accessory that you don't have to give a shit for except for certain games that might support it or specific features.

I've never seen it above $50, and it emails the code directly to you after purchase.
