• Xbox One will have NO ads on the dashboard

hopefully someone will remember this story when the console cycle is over and we can look back after they redesign the UI 3 times
Nobody cares, it's still a piece of shit.
Yeah the shit isn't BROWN, so lets focus on that
That's nice, Microsoft, but you're not getting one into my household that easy. You're practically gonna have to have Steve Ballmer hand-deliver a free one if you want that, and that will never happen.
I vaguely remember Microsoft's retort on people paying for Live on the 360, and it was "There won't be ads!" Now, of course, it's apparent they didn't uphold that forever. I doubt they will this time.
Sounds like what happened to Foxtel. I remember when my family first got it, when I was younger and it was ad-free. These days its littered with ads, sad really. Sounds like Microsoft is just going to spam DLC and "entertainment" ads everywhere, what a surprise! I seriously don't understand what's wrong with them, its like they have so much money they don't care.
But the Kinect can be turned off. I'm still not seeing the big deal about the Kinect having to be plugged in. You could always shove it behind your TV if you don't use it which is what I would most likely do if I had one :v:
Except you have no choice but to use it. Best I can find right now is that the only way to turn the damned thing on is to literally shout at it, and I have my doubts the Kinect will be able to properly hear you stashed away behind the TV like that.
Kind of sad that this is what it's come to for consoles I miss those times when consoles didn't even have dashboards or intrusive services, just games
I don't, I like having everything in one box instead of multiple boxes
No ads
i'll believe that when i see it and i don't think i'll be seeing it soon.
Is this supposed to be impressive? Wow a subscription based service on a device you pay hundreds for doesnt show you ads, amazing!
Loving it. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/AQbQnj4.jpg[/img_thumb]
Why haven't I heard about that? That is actually a good feature. I mean, I don't hate the Xbox One like many others, but the PS4 gets more points in my book. But that is actually a really nice feature.
Q: Will there be advertisements built into the dashboard like Xbox 360? How many? A: We designed the Xbox One dashboard to make your favorite games and entertainment even more front and center. Advertisements will not be visible on the home screen, so you only see what’s most important to you
Microsoft being dodgy people. The home screen if I recall is just when you start your console, so they are implying that there will be adverts elsewhere. It's still Microsoft guys. I also doubt this no ad policy will last too long.
Loving it. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/AQbQnj4.jpg[/img_thumb]
Sony has been doing the same thing in regards to the DLC being available to anyone for YEARS. The fact that MS now has to separately announce that DLC extends to all accounts after 9 years of screwing families over is p. hilarious. And no one's "yelling about it" because it's a stupidly over complex feature that shouldn't exist. I can share my PS4 games with my family too. It's called, "Leaving the damn console and games out for them to play."
the console is 100$ more than the ps4 and has no used games (and if your banned by their 3 strikes system you lose all of them forever). Xbox live gold is 60$ a year (10$ a month, thats 5$ more than ps4, and ps4 might most likely have free online, thats 5$ for PSN+), it has a kinect that can track your every movement and emotion and must be online at all times, and it will check in every 24 hours. without gold you cannot play online, use netflix, use IE, or any online services oh but theres no blunt ads anymore so theres that however it's most likely that they will just add them later on.
To be honest if you were to get a ps4 with move the price is a lot more equal suddenly. The difference is that with the inclusion of kinect everywhere, MS can start pushing a lot more stuff with it in a lot of places. Remember that kinect isn't just an engine to grab your movements but it's a big engine that helps with voice commands and a slew of other stuff and gives a common library that games can tap in. As opposed to the PS4 which offers no such extra value on the move sensor. The kinect being on all the time is actually a good idea. Again think of it as a remote control more than anything else. As to the fees you pay - well I'm a PC gamer so consider them bullshit from the get go. But the PS4 is not hugely better in that regard.

Its like tossing an empty can of air freshener into the worlds largest dump and saying "See, we're trying" [editline]15th June 2013[/editline]
And don't you need Kinect otherwise the Xbox One won't work?
It comes with the sensor
And don't you need Kinect otherwise the Xbox One won't work?
Sure, but it's a relatively nice and novel piece of hardware in a lot of sense. It would really stay super niche if it was an optional accessory. Kinda like the PS4 move. But with including it in from the get go you can do a lot more interesting stuff with it and push for a lot more interactivity. And it basically allows game makers to add in a lot of useful features which otherwise would take a lot more work to implement. A good, bad example where the voice commands in Deadspace 3. Sure you could throw in an extra library to analyse the voice and sure you could spend some extra processing power to do it, but having the kinect there already gave the devs an existing and very robust system to use with no extra hit. A good example is to use a PC mouse. Before they were massively pushed by hardware they were generally a somewhat niche device. Now can you imagine using a computer for a long time without one? Think of the kinect a bit like a proto proto proto type of the computers on Voice command they have in star trek.

I've never heard of this feature on PS3 or anything.
It comes with the sensor
And if it breaks? You're pretty much shit outta luck and gotta buy a new Kinect sensor? [editline]15th June 2013[/editline]
Can you play your games with one friend even if he doesn't own the game?
Money money money! LODS O' MONEY

Instead there's going to be a huge app in the center that delivers mountain dew and doritos to your doorstep.
Would be a shame if suddenly your controller malfunctioned and pressed it by mistake, wouldn't it?... But that wont happen with those really tough controllers... Right? [editline]15th June 2013[/editline] Still doesn't saves this trainwreck of a console.
12x$5 = $60? Just like Xbox Live?
Sony stated under $5 a month. And, even then, the only real thing you get is the ability to play online. Any and all other online features like the Playstation Store, Netflix, etc etc is all accessible without PSN+. Meanwhile, any apps and services on Xbox requires XBL to use.
It was already confirmed you can turn it off.
It's still on because it's listening for one command, "Xbox On."
Like how you can choose up to ten people on your friends list to share games with.
Share as in trading or share as in you can play at the same time?
Share as in trading or share as in you can play at the same time?
You can have one person playing the game at a time, but that one person can be any of the 10 people
You can have one person playing the game at a time, but that one person can be any of the 10 people
That's good, but another question: Does that other person have to be playing the game from my console, or could I technically buy Forza, share it with a friend, and play online with them even though they haven't bought it?
That's good, but another question: Does that other person have to be playing the game from my console, or could I technically buy Forza, share it with a friend, and play online with them even though they haven't bought it?
Nope, only one person can play the game at a time
That's good, but another question: Does that other person have to be playing the game from my console, or could I technically buy Forza, share it with a friend, and play online with them even though they haven't bought it?
Think of it as an electronic lending system, not a multiplayer spawn system.
Nope, only one person can play the game at a time
But the graphic on the last page was a compiled list of things about game sharing, and one was that two people could play a game from one Xbox, just not online. EDIT: Or did you mean to say one other person at a time? I'm also assuming this means the game sharing is done on separate consoles, as in a friend can play my games from their home and doesn't have to use mine?
And if it breaks? You're pretty much shit outta luck and gotta buy a new Kinect sensor? [editline]15th June 2013[/editline] Yes. It's called lending them. Or, you know, splitscreen.
Ehh, that's not even remotely the same, if the chart isn't misleading in any way.
And if you look away the Kinect will pause it until you start paying attention again.
And if you look away three times, Don Mattrick will come to your house and put you in a head brace and eye openers.

Only one console can run the game at a time.
