Well unless you're 20 or something, you didn't marry, did you?
Well unless you're 20 or something, you didn't marry, did you?
I am 20 and no I didn't marry her, We just wanted it to be with someone special.
Well it's just you, but once again, if she took off her hijab and insisted not to wear it again, it's very probably because she wanted to take her distances from Islam.
I guess she wasn't very old, probably 18 at most ? My guess is she was still in that time where you just want to get rid of your family and live your own life.

She was 19. If she wants to wear or not wear certain clothes, let her.

but still,The pre-marriage sex is forbidden in islam.

Well you can't have sex unless you're married. That's a foundation for a good chunk of faiths. It's not just that she was stepping out of line, but because she wanted to do something a lot of faiths - and even common sense - believe is a silly idea.
I kind of agree with this. Tons of Muslims praying in the street in a western country, not a good idea. They banned it for the safety of the Muslims.

Can someone explain to me why they can't pray at home?

Better to piss off less people than more people.
cool, good to know that facepunch supports oppression when it's the oppression of brown people
She was 19. If she wants to wear or not wear certain clothes, let her.
Because you totally never make bad decisions at that age :v:
Alot of people wants to wait to have sex because they believe the first time should be with someone special,
Many muslims believe the same thing, someone's virginity shouldn't be "wasted" on someone that will eventually leave him/her. That's why pre-marital sex is forbidden, because marriage is a holy union with God and so you don't marry someone unless you are certain the relationship will last. This principle was also present in most of the western society before it got secularised.

Why would Muslims be brown ?
Did you read the thread ?
Do you have any idea what you're talking about ?
good to know that facepunch supports oppression when it's the oppression of brown people
Have you even read the fucking thread?
She was 19. If she wants to wear or not wear certain clothes, let her.
A little anecdote: I remember having a conversation about Hijab with my oldest aunt. And she put it in a way that explained it so well to me. Its a matter of protection, if you were to have two lollipops, one wrapped and one unwrapped; and you leave them outside in a garden. The uncovered one is vulnerable to ants and dirt, but the covered up one is protected from it. All fathers really want for their daughters is to wear it as to avoid attention from men and can stay pure in the same sense, especially if they're physically attractive; so that they can settle down with a successful (Usually Muslim) man that SHE chooses. Is he right for forcing her to wear it? No. Is he a terrible person for wanting her to? No.
Again, I don't assume many of you share the same ideas but this is just our culture.
cool, good to know that facepunch supports oppression when it's the oppression of brown people
They are building mosques to compensate for the ban. A great compromise in my opinion.
I've been to Paris last August and there were like 6 of those prayers at the Arc de Triomphe, I didn't really mind them that much because before that we've been to the Eiffel Tower where shitloads
upon shitloads of young French black males try to sell you the exact same plastic shit you don't need.
Why won't they get rid of those? You can't set a single step without declining an offer from one of them.

Islam isn't a race.
Have you even read the fucking thread?
there seems to be a nice discussion about muslim cultural values going on but the first page is still full of people supportive of a political measure that i feel was designed as an attack on a specific group of people
Islam isn't a race.
i agree, Islam is not a race, but I think there is a strong racist sentiment that runs at the core of western islamophobia

You came to derail the thread that was surprisingly going without argument.

Human races don't exist.

The problem comes from tiny streets where prayer actually blocks circulation.
As for black people selling shit, meh, people need to earn their life, it's still better than, say, smuggling or drug dealing.

Well done. You've fucked up the only thread I've ever seen that was without argument. You've ruined paradise, ironically, by saying there was already argument.
Fuck off for a minute, read the thread, realize they're building mosques as a compromise - and not in any way actually oppresing people - and then come back.

I didn't know that people came in this flavour of stupid.
I didn't know that people came in this flavour of stupid.
The more you know...
I didn't know that people came in this flavour of stupid.
There's even a clinical term for it: pathalogical altruism.
Those who want to help without actually helping the situation. This also applies even if there was no situation to begin with.
Nobody is attacking anybody except you. You came to derail the thread that was surprisingly going without argument.
no i'm pretty sure that the french government is attacking muslims

i'm sorry but I don't necessarily see that as a sound compromise
again I didn't intend to disrupt anything (and me expressing my sentiment really shouldn't have disrupted anything), I'm just responding to sentiments I saw expressed on the first page

How is it "attacking" if they know there's an issue with it - and thus that what they're doing can be considered wrong - and are working to fix the issue?
It's a problem where the only villain is the circumstance. The circumstances have now been altered to better ones.
I didn't know that people came in this flavour of stupid.
cool, let's be children about this

No they are not. They banned this for the protection of Muslims. Westerners tend to lash out against Muslims due to the actions of extremists.
So, again, have you read the thread?
- thx -
no i'm pretty sure that the french government is attacking muslims
I'm pretty sure you have no idea of what you're talking about.
I'm french, I'm interested in politics and I know this is not an attack, especially when the law is voted with the help of people representing the Muslims and has strong compromises such as building bigger Mosques for them to pray in a calm, sane and clean place.
If the law was racist for good, prayer would've been just forbidden, a huge fine would have been put to dissuade people from doing and they would've done jack shit concerning the lack of room to do the prayer in private. This is what Marine Lepen, the leader of France's National Front, would have done. Thankfully she isn't ruling the country yet and I hope she will never be.
I would support this if it had more Islamic community consultation, rather than the centuries old management of Others.
"We are not cattle,"
It doesn't really seem to be anything other than management.
