Shepard Fairey modifies 'Hope' poster for Occupy movement

its funny, because this was made for the occupy protests, yet it has a masks on.
he was actually trying to stop persecution of english catholics by the protestant monarchy
...by decimating the English Parliament and at least two square miles of urban London, filled with innocent civilians, using barrels of gunpowder.
Unsuccessfully, I may add.
I agree he's done some things, but a lot of the bigger issues haven't
Out of curiosity, like what, exactly, do you think he's neglected to solve?
[editline]22nd November 2011[/editline]
Because quite a number of the general ones people cite are just way out of his area of operations, so to speak, to begin with.
Really? He hasn't changed anything at all or kept to any of his campaign promises?
Listing of some of his own and his administration's accomplishments:
Goddamn, people have got short memory spans.
Definitely saving that as a .rtf

He's saving in a format that the little goblins inside your computer can lock away in triple-bonded lead safes that can withstand planetary cataclysms so aliens of the future can read upon the knowledge and learn about our culture.
Pfffft, tech illiterate.
Found this while doing Physics homework. lul

You know it's not about Guy Fawkes it's about some kids who saw 4chan and wanted to be the anonymouses. It's generally looked down upon by any regular users, the kids who do this probably don't even know who Guy Fawkes is.

I mean, I might be able to deal with it more if they chose something else. Hell, why not use those full body suit things?

to be fair, those are a lot more expensive. mask is maybe 4$, I've never seen those less then 25$.

True but if anything it shows dedication. It also better expresses the idea of Anonymity than a bunch of Guy Fawkes masks. Imagine a large group of people all in these. For the most part, you'd be unable to definitively identify anyone.

I agree, I've actually been trying to get one of the suits, I just haven't been able to get the funds to purchase one yet. Always something more pressing at the time though.
a whole bunch of people in masks is a whole lot more imposing than a bunch of people in green bodysuits
i think they aim to look imposing, not ridiculous

i think they aim to look imposing, not ridiculous
Not really. A mass of people creating basically a wall of green or whatever staring you down. That's far more intimidating than:

Last time I saw a shop with a Fawkes mask for sale the damn thing was $80.
Then again the owner of that shop was a retarded greedy monkey's cunt so it doesn't surprise me that they're for sale for $8 online, though his had the hair, hat and everything.
I don't know how I feel about that poster. It's not anon protesting after all. If you protest anonymously, you cannot be taken seriously imo.

I think it's more an homage to "the faceless masses", but I could be wrong.
I think it's more an homage to "the faceless masses", but I could be wrong.
Being "faceless masses" when protesting sounds even worse. Being faceless usually implies you're not important which would mean protesters and their causes are not important.
I agree he's done some things, but a lot of the bigger issues haven't.
Also Shepard Fairey is a great designer.
He's not a designer, he's a plagiarist
Being "faceless masses" when protesting sounds even worse. Being faceless usually implies you're not important which would mean protesters and their causes are not important.
In which case remaining faceless adds a sense of irony to the situation, and showing that just because they're faceless doesn't mean they don't have a voice.
Then again there's the highly likely scenario that the guy who made the poster just picked that as an icon because of the twinks who actually wear the ridiculous things because "lol am leejun".
The original poster was way better than this

It's aged well as the dancer on top of the Charging Bull now metaphorically answers the "what the fuck do they want?!" Fox News criticisms
I don't know whey they choose it, Guy Fawkes didn't exactly succeed in what he aimed to do.
That's fair enough because neither does most people that claim to be 'anon'.
Shepard Fairey is a massive cunt by the way
It's not about Guy Fawkes at all, it's about the comic book/movie V for Vendetta. Set in a dystopian 1997 UK ruled by a dictatorship, V (the title character) wears the mask and f-cks sh-t up for the dictators.

We know, and that's why we find it as stupid.

Like I could say "Goddamn mother fucking cock sucking bitch shits." If I for some reason needed to.
Second, its came from Epic Fail Guy, not V or Guy Fawkes.

The modern group of Anonymous you always see out wearing these will usually refer to V, but they're wrong. But it doesn't change the fact that they are using the icon of a man who basically wanted to install a Catholic theocracy in Britain.
