This stuff would go good on the moon. I use this when I airsoft, and works great during winter, and really well in dark wooded areas. Blends nicely in shadows oddly enough.
This looks a lot like British MTP.

ACU is a terrible camouflage pattern. From what I've seen floating around the internet on Afghanistan it makes them stick out like sore thumbs anywhere but mountainous/gravelly/rocky areas.
this is what happened when the US came to Estonia to participate in some exercises

taking sticking out like a sore thumb to a whole new level

whoa where are those hands coming from
theres 1 guy and a pair of hands whats up with that???
Could somebody please explain in simple terms what the advantages and disadvantages of this are over the old pattern?
Thanks in advance.
Lamens terms: ACU is too grey, and was never field tested before use. It works well against rocks but that's about it. It would probably work really well in a rubbled destroyed city, too, but how often are you going to fight in those
When the battlefield is covered in the ashes of your enemies your acu shall camouflage you
Shouldn't the camouflage pattern be dependent on where you fight? Having a wood pattern doesn't make much sense if you fight in the desert.

Middle East is not the only potential warzone.
Besides, there's landscape anomalies in regular terrain, too. You're not going to change your uniform from green to gray when you stop fighting in the rural woodland and have to take over a small town.
thank fucking god
im tired of wiping chocolate stains off my ACUs now no one will notice as i engorge my mouth with hershey bars and cheeseburgers

Generally speaking most military stock 2 camo patterns, one for arid conditions and one for woodland conditions.
Its just not feasible logistically and economically to have 1000 different uniforms for every soldier in any conceivable environment they might fight in. Realistically its not that much of a big deal anyway.

You put chocolate in your cheeseburgers??
I don't know whether that's disgusting or you're a genius.
ACU pattern has been widely criticized through the Army because of how 'bright' it looks. From my little experience, I can notice the bright colors of the digi-green sticking out from over 100 meters away in an afternoon in arid brush.

ACU is the ultimate camouflage.

The article mentions that there are going to be other variants.
However, leaders have said it would be just one part of a “family” of camo patterns that will also include a dark jungle-woodland variant and a lighter pattern for desert environs.
Honestly I wish we would adapt Flecktarn.

It's more focused on the guy hiding behind the tree, its based on a game, MGS3, Where you can quickly change your uniform, put on facepaint and such to blend into your surroundings better, to help you sneak around.
