I was referring to you implying chemotherapy involves radiation. It does not. It in involves chemicals. Hence, "chemo."
I'm sooooo sorry I got the two confused, however they're often done together. What's your point then? Obviously what she's saying about walking into an irradiated site is stupid, but certain doses of radiation can be good for you.
Just look at the Japanese in 1945, they looked much better after being exposed to radiation!
Yep. The birth defects are surely something that is outweighed in the long run by the numerous benefits one obtains from absorbing massive amounts of radiation, too... right? But yeah, Johnny has it right. Take her... to Fukushima...
but certain doses of radiation can be good for you.
certain doses of radiation in specific locations in specific situations administered specifically by a specific expert yeah I'm sure Coulter meant this

Obviously what she's saying about walking into an irradiated site is stupid, but certain doses of radiation can be good for you.
Well my point was mostly that it was funny that you defended her in some small degree and then said something ironically incorrect but you're right it doesn't really matter. Of course radiation can be beneficial but that's very specifically controlled and targeted radiation, not just standing around absorbing whatever the fuck a reactor in meltdown is leaking.
certain doses of radiation in specific locations in specific situations administered specifically by a specific expert yeah I'm sure Coulter meant this
Yeah, she's taken studies and applied the results the wrong way - but she's not wrong in the essence that radioactivity can help you. She's stupid, and?
So thats how the STALKERs manage to carry 60 kilos of stuff and be able to sprint at full speed and jump perfectly,
Ann Coulter is a genius, clearly an high amount of intelligence radiate from her.
Ann Coulter is a genius, clearly an high amount of intelligence radiate from her.
That and the alpha particles.
Well my point was mostly that it was funny that you defended her in some small degree and then said something ironically incorrect but you're right it doesn't really matter.
I didn't defend her, I defended the idea that radiation can be helpful - which is odd, because no one mentioned that yet.
Lets dump her into the chernobyl sarcophagus.
I didn't defend her, I defended the idea that radiation can be helpful - which is odd, because no one mentioned that yet.
And by extension her point, and by extension her. But don't worry. I know you don't think she isn't batshit. I think.
And by extension, her point, and by extension her.
That's putting words in my mouth, but okay, whatever. I guess if I defend the idea of spending money, I'm by extension defending Obama's idea to stimulate the US economy, and him. Silly yeah?
But don't worry. I know you don't think she isn't batshit. I think.
what.
That's putting words in my mouth, but okay, whatever.
No it isn't. I don't get it, is it Take-Issue-With-Everything-I-Say-No-Matter-How-Innocuous Day and no one told me?
Well, I think we all know what the radiation did to her...
I don't get it, is it Take-Issue-With-Everything-I-Say-No-Matter-How-Innocuous Day and no one told me?
Weird, because I thought you were the one who had a problem with what I said, even though I was only incorrect about one thing. But whatever now.
but certain doses of radiation can be good for you.
radiation hormesis is a unsupported hypothesis and complete junk science if you ask me the studies she quotes are absolutely flawed. certain doses of radiation ARE NOT good for you, any beneficial effects are not proven and far pale in comparison to the proven negative effects stop spreading around lies plz makes the job of us "medical-folk" really difficult
Well, you're not only misogynist but also misandrist. You must be a blast at parties.
You are trying way too hard to find discrimination where it doesn't exist.
This is actually true to some extent - I'm taking a class based around different types of energy. A small dose of radiation can actually make your cells stronger. In a -small- area around the Hiroshima bomb, life expectancy actually increased. But I'm sure Ann Coulter didn't know this. Also the situation is like one in a million.
In a -small- area around the Hiroshima bomb, life expectancy actually increased.
Couldn't that be because the radiation killed all the sick people who wouldn't live as long? I'd need to see the numbers to come to a conclusion though I'm just spitballing
This is actually true to some extent - I'm taking a class based around different types of energy. A small dose of radiation can actually make your cells stronger. In a -small- area around the Hiroshima bomb, life expectancy actually increased.
yeah but there's absolutely no proper evidence for that, so no

and uh, radiation therapy has zero to do with radiation from a nuclear power plant radiation therapy doesn't consist of shooting radiation at your face hopping for the best, it's extremely localized and the problem is that when it comes to places where cell reproduction is especially high radiation therapy can create secondary tumours reason why childeren usually stay away from radiation therapy as well, their growing bodies are at an even larger risk
fair enough.
i was referring to radiotherapy though.
yeah well you should kinda study it before you try to make wild claims man
yeah well you should kinda study it before you try to make wild claims man
what claims did i make? the whole time i was referring to radiation from radiotherapy.
The radiation in radiotherapy isn't beneficial though. It's used to damage cells. They just happen to be cancerous cells. Or bone marrow if you need a transplant, etc.
The radiation in radiotherapy isn't beneficial though. It's used to damage cells. They just happen to be cancerous cells. I don't see how that's at all nitpicking, you brought up the point that it's used beneficially in radiotherapy but it's not really. It's just targeted destruction.
what claims did i make? the whole time i was referring to radiation from radiotherapy.

certain doses of radiation can be good for you.
the radiation in radiotherapy isn't good for you, it's very very bad for you, and it's used to kill cancer cells so it is extremely localized as to prevent as much damage as possible [editline]18th March 2011[/editline]
Wasn't it you who just said "Take-Issue-With-Everything-I-Say-No-Matter-How-Innocuous Day"?
I don't see how that's at all nitpicking, you brought up the point that it's used beneficially in radiotherapy but it's not really. It's just targeted destruction.
it's used for the befits that result from the consequences of radiation.
the radiation in radiotherapy isn't good for you, it's very very bad for you, and it's used to kill cancer cells so it is extremely localized as to prevent as much damage as possible
i understand your point, but you knew exactly what i meant when i suggested that radiation can be good for you. i never suggested anything out of the ordinary, nor did i prescribe someone with cancer to walk into a nuclear power plant.
sorry chap but when it comes to misinformation about medicine, i don't take it too lightly
haha, fair enough.
