Steam what are you doing. get rid of this early bullshit.
Seeing as my brother picked this up during the Steam Christmas sale, I have never seen that. Seems a bit shady that Oculus Rift support had a lower target than multiplayer. Wouldn't Rift support actually be the harder of the 2 to implement?
It's actually fairly easy to implement Rift support. A ton easier than multiplayer if the original game wasn't made with mp in mind.
Who even buys these games? It seems like they must be really stupid to begin with to look at this for a few seconds and be like "damn this game looks great I gotta buy it now!". Shit like this, guise of the wolf, that 2066 whatever game, revelations 2012, etc.
Go to youtube and search "Let's play" about that many people
It has a great concept, Binding of Isaac FPS which has enormous potential by itself and it's not hard to execute. And I personally don't see the issue with the art style, but I know that I'm in the minority here. It's decent enough and it makes modelling and animating much easier(which would be great if they actually worked on the game) Also comparing it to guise of the wolf and revelations is fucking retarded.
The game is great, the devs are not.

And the Early Access success saga continues. What game will be next? Edit: This post is great from the developer.
And the Early Access success saga continues. What game will be next?
I want it to be Starforge, I feel like a idiot buying it, the trailer is a complete lie and it runs like shit on even high end computers. I have a feeling it will end up like towns, with the devs realising they will never get it finished so they take the money move on. I really want a refund for that game, its not worth €20.00.(is it true the devs plan to raise this to €40.00? once it leaves alpha, if it does that is.)
Hey, I'm one of the forum moderators for PA, check my profile if you don't believe me. SaintScratch is not a developer, he is a moderator for the forum and he's the one deleting the posts. The developers have not deleted a single post in the forum. As a side note I'm not participating in any of this, I have nothing to do with any of the permabannings nor recent thread deleting.
demode [editline]e[/editline] seriously is there a higher-up you can talk with to help sort out the forum situation? Allegations of breaking creative protection licencing is a serious issue that needs to be dealt with by the devs, preferrably in public view since everyone knows it's been called out now.

They were planning on adding multiplayer support, EVEN THOUGH IT DID NOT REACH THAT TIER IN THE KICKSTARTER, and they then rescinded that. Plans fucking change. That's how Early Access works.
I'm not even upset about coop anymore. Im more upset that they stole work from others. They are completely ignoring it. I hope steam catches on about this.
Your best chance to effect this is to give the rights holders a tip-off about this, since they are the ones who have actual leverage.

There are multiple ways this can be viewed and many of those are fault of the devs as well as the community.

They're just a bunch of voluntary Steam forum administrators, completely independent of game development. Considering how many people in this thread have incorrectly called them developers, usually followed by negative remarks on how the game sucks because of such awful developers; I figured I would point that particular detail out.
I don't think theres anything I can do. I'd rather just stay out to be completely honest. The best I could do is try to suggest them to add proper credits?
Do that and also bring up the issue with the bad moderation. Deleting posts like this is really pretty harmful, so if you mention it the devs might consider putting in a proper policy regarding this stuff. [editline]9th May 2014[/editline]
Seeing as my brother picked this up during the Steam Christmas sale, I have never seen that. Seems a bit shady that Oculus Rift support had a lower target than multiplayer. Wouldn't Rift support actually be the harder of the 2 to implement?
Adding (very basic) Rift support more or less means putting in small bits of additional code in roughly two different places. There will be some tweaking involved but other than that it's pretty simple. (Disclaimer: I haven't done it personally, since I'm holding off on buying any prototype hardware.) Adding multiplayer to an existing game is comparable to redoing most of it from scratch on hard mode, meaning it's probably more work than what was done up to that point. That's just to get back there too, it has significant ongoing impact afterwards also.
Do that and also bring up the issue with the bad moderation. Deleting posts like this is really pretty harmful, so if you mention it the devs might consider putting in a proper policy regarding this stuff.
I did bring it up, developer agreed that was a very slippery slope.
Another example why Early Access is a shit idea.
No it isn't. In theory it's great idea as you can follow a game through alpha to release and support a developer you want to get behind. A game I worked on went through Early Access and did just fine as a result. Like Kickstarter there's a level of trust you have to have with the developer. If you can't trust the developer, don't invest in the title, it's as simple as that. EDIT: It's also important to research a game before buying it. While it's justified that people are complaining about the abandonment of coop, I'm wondering why people bought it this early on if they wanted it solely to play coop? If they're buying into Early Access they should know the risks and the fact that plans can change at the developer's discretion. Calling it shit is a bit of a step too far.
Glad I went with Tower of Guns instead of Paranautical. Guy's been pretty great about communicating about development without acting like a dick. He's actually pretty active on the steam forums for the game. The difference between the two devs is like night and day.
Is it that good? If so, I got a 50% off coupon for this game if anyone's interested.
Is it that good? If so, I got a 50% off coupon for this game if anyone's interested.
Things like weapons, perks, and items aren't quite as diverse as they could be, but even after 30 hours I was still finding secrets I missed.
Steam was great until gabe newell disabled the quality control gates...
For those saying plans change its just a stretch goal that was never met see this: Paranautical Activity multiplayer is definitely a thing that is happening and is the reason for the lack of updates recently I hope you're all as excited as I am! Be Prepared! How do you go from MP is 1 patch away to "No the engine wasn't built that way" If you start taking money for something you made, you have a responsibility to treat your fans with respect. They have no one to blame but themselves. There needs to be more protection for consumers supporting and giving these devs their money only to have this constant shit go down.
I really think the art/art style doesn't fit the game.
Go figure, it's another "lol so retro grafix" cash-in It never fits anything
Greenlight has hit rock if it lets... this in

Go figure, it's another "lol so retro grafix" cash-in It never fits anything
You know what the funniest thing is? It's called "retro", but old games never actually had those sharp pixels that you see in screenshots or such today. Or well, they did, but they weren't visible in the same way. Due to the way CRTs worked way back when, the pixels would usually end up not only getting rounded a bit but also kind of "bleed" and occupy a bit more space than they actually should. Because of this, the pixels were never, ever able to look as sharp as they do on a modern screen, and they were never intended to. Developers knew this and most of the time programmed the games around this. The look which we call "retro" today is not at all how the programmers of way back when actually intended the games to look. [t]http://0-media-cdn.foolz.us/ffuuka/board/vr/image/1388/76/1388769353408.png[/t] This image is a pretty good example of this effect, not perfect but that's because its an emulator filter (basically a recreation of the effect intended for modern monitors).
