Is it that good? If so, I got a 50% off coupon for this game if anyone's interested.
I enjoy it. I've got about 21 hours in it. Each run is maybe 30 min to an hour from start to finish. Though it is quite easy to die, and you tend to downward spiral pretty easy if you start getting hit. It isn't true random generation, it's a bunch of preset rooms like BoI with certain pools it can pick from. I usually recognize every room, but there are some room configurations that seem to be pretty rare in appearance. I actually saw a new room 2 playthroughs ago.
It goes from Foyer -> Foundry(lava, boilers, etc)/Gearworks(Gears and grinders everywhere) -> Battlements(Large areas with lots of turrets)/Warehouse(Lots of storage containers and pitfalls)->Possible secret floor->Logistics->Sanctum->Hidden Stage
The level design is really good. Item balance is kinda iffy. There's an item that literally does nothing, and pocket thruster is pretty much the best item in the game. There are hidden weapons(That unfortunately aren't unlockable, but they are pretty awesome when you can get them) you can find, but usually you'll be stuck with your one weapon. Joe doesn't appear to be done developing for this game, there's a patch due out sometime around Thursday next week.
Also there's this.

The game has a bunch of enjoyable stories for why you're going into the tower. This particular one was a hard of hearing 80 year old woman trying to drop off some cans for recycling which she assumed was on the top floor of the tower while the tower's murderous AI tried fruitlessly to tell her this isn't the recycling center.
Demos seem to be a dying thing. You have to pretty much pirate the game to see if it's worth anything so you don't waste your money buying garbage.
I think that's because there's been some research showing that demos can reduce sales. This is especially true for console games, where piracy is much more inconvenient.
Basically, if a demo lowers your expectations of a game (which happens much more often than raising them, because marketing always pitches it as the best game ever), then you lose a customer that might have just bought the game outright to begin with. There's typically a whole chunk of the market that's on the edge of buying the game, and a demo gives them a chance to try it and opt out.

no doubt the second coming of Phil fish
Another example why Early Access is a shit idea.
Some devs are a shit idea.
Some devs are a shit idea.
Most are. Which is why early acces usually isn't working out.
Now it steam had a strict, controlled policy and rules as for early access, that could make it work.

Looks like Valve needs to raise the submission fee to $200.
It really is a shame about Early Access and Green Light because they have so much potential thats not being reached. Valve will have to change things if people stop buying or make a loud enough noise. I only really regret buying DayZ in early access , not that its their fault I just don't like it.

Instead of raising fees, Valve should actually look at what crap they're publishing.

It's hard to do that when the games are being misrepresented.

So you blindly buy games based on the Steam store page description? Stop doing that.
So you blindly buy games based on the Steam store page description? Stop doing that.
Well, I don't, I've not bought anything from Early Access or Greenlight.
But false advertising is false advertising. Yes, consumers have a responsibility to avoid scams as best they can, but companies have an even bigger responsibility to tell the truth.
Guess not every early access game can be like Assetto Corsa, which is updated regularly every two Fridays and just got multiplayer.
Someone just found out that the makers used a bunch of sounds and didnt credit anyone of the artist.

They're placeholders #4

Just because they are placeholders doesn't mean they can infringe on other peoples copyrights. They are selling the game already so they have already broken the law.

if you're accepting money for your product 'placeholder' status doesn't bypass creative commons, and being 'free to use' doesn't mean you can ignore the terms of using them

People should also look at the crap they're developing.
I can only count a handful of games which really made great use of the Early Access model. Games like Space Engineers, Supreme Commander and Starbound did really good from it.
Although Space Engineers is the only one that didn't had a kickstarter as well.
