So I'm not the only one who has made the connection of Ayn Rand with Anton Lavey.
Considering Anton LaVey admitted to taking ideas from Ayn Rand it's pretty obvious. LaVeyan Satanism is pretty much just objectivism with halloween costumes
It is only going to agrivate the people living in Oklahoma, the Satanists are from across the country. There are a lot of Christians in Oklahoma and its only going to piss people off
if christians are going to be aggravated by this then maybe they deserve to be aggravated.
satanism is just hedonistic atheism with a hint of objectivist philosophy so yea they are slightly deluded.
Technically Satanism is an umbrella term for any religion based around Satan-ish things, usually either an unfallen Lucifer or an abstract concept like what the LaVeyans follow.

If my state did this shit and put a statue of the ten commandments right in front of a state building, I'd be pretty pissed off. The government is supposed to be neutral, if you start painting it - more so than it already is, anyway - with Christianity, then anyone who isn't Christian is going to feel unwelcome at best, and hated at worst.
Always relevant*
Is that a young Gaahl wearing a Gaahlskagg shirt in your avatar? Where the fuck did you find that picture?
Is that a young Gaahl wearing a Gaahlskagg shirt in your avatar?
"I think these Satanists are a different group," Cleveland, R-Slaughterville, said. "You put them under the nut category."
Something about a pot and a kettle.
What is there to gain from just trying to piss off Christians? This is obviously a political move on the Satanist's part.
I am a Christian living in Oklahoma and I am pissed off. Well played, Satanists.
Yeah, the satanists I've talked to have all been insanely deluded in their views but this isn't really bad or anything
All the Satanists I know are chill fucking people, though they are all LeVeyan. It seems rather reasonable as far as philosophies go I think. Do not steal, do not rape, do not harm the innocent. Live to enjoy life as fully as you can. Fair enough. [editline]9th December 2013[/editline] I'm actually a Catholic and I kinda want to see this statue happen.
satanism is just hedonistic atheism with a hint of objectivist philosophy so yea they are slightly deluded.
No, it's not. They believe in the existence of Satan, a product of Abrahamic religions. Thus, they believe the rest of Abrahamic figures exist as well, so no, they're not atheists.
Thats a pretty misinformed view on it, according to the religion Satan is the source of all evil and misjudgement so essentially most if not all the bad shit that God had to do was as a result of his hand being forced. Even the very first thing fhat has upset God, the apple being stolen, was due to the influence of Satan.
yea but god created satan [editline]9th December 2013[/editline] the bible to me reeks of propaganda, all the bad shit god does is blamed on the great enemy satan (who actually never seems to do much bad shit when he does turn up). i bet heaven is actually like north korea [editline]9th December 2013[/editline]
No, it's not. They believe in the existence of Satan, a product of Abrahamic religions. Thus, they believe the rest of Abrahamic figures exist as well, so no, they're not atheists.
it depends really, alot of 'satanic' religions think of satan as a metaphor rather than an actual thing, like, satan is the urges within ourselves that christianity and the christian god want us to suppress and shit like that
Thats a pretty misinformed view on it, according to the religion Satan is the source of all evil and misjudgement so essentially most if not all the bad shit that God had to do was as a result of his hand being forced. Even the very first thing fhat has upset God, the apple being stolen, was due to the influence of Satan.
I thought that God was meant to be All-powerful and could do anything he wanted, him being forced to do something would kinda go against that.
I thought that God was meant to be All-powerful and could do anything he wanted, him being forced to do something would kinda go against that.
Its kinda along the lines that Satan used to be the arch-angel Lucifer, he was supposedly the most beautiful thing ever. Satan wanted the power God desired, This made God extremly mad and cast satan down i to the pits of hell which is a much worse fate than just ceasing to exsist. Hell is Satans punishment, thats why Hell is/represented for the evil because it is home to a being that tried to usurp God
Yeah I bet God told you that didn't he Have you even tried to talk to Satan? Even tried to get his side of the story?
no the bible tells him so that's all the evidence he needs
those satanist are the best satanist, hell the whole Leveyan system is basically worshipping yourself from what I heard (correct me if I am wrong).
yeah my girlfriend is into the whole Satanism thing and i had a flick through her Leveyan book, it has a few weird bits, but its mostly just "you shouldn't be ashamed of who you are and what you do so long as nobody is harmed in the process" you gotta admit that's an all-round positive message.
So what would they be going for; a bronze Baphomet? Or do Satanists not use Baphomet in general?
yeah my girlfriend is into the whole Satanism thing and i had a flick through her Leveyan book, it has a few weird bits, but its mostly just "you shouldn't be ashamed of who you are and what you do so long as nobody is harmed in the process" you gotta admit that's an all-round positive message.
That actually does make a weird kind of sense, even if it does seem a little Ayn Rancid. If it doesn't hurt anyone, it's not all that bad, but then again by what measure is "not hurting anyone"? Personally I'd see it as not causing someone harm or misfortune in physical terms or directly insulting them, but some would probably say that you could "hurt" someone by offending their sensibilities if they see what you do and are repulsed by it. I don't really think that the latter definition is one that should be embraced, since if you went by that logic EVERYTHING would be terrible or hurtful in the eyes of the Conservative and the fucking paper-skinned pansy-pants who should just harden up and shrug these things off.
Satan is INTEROPERATED as the all evil being by religious followers, you know the devil horns and such. All that was really said for sure is that he was the angel of light and that he rebel'd against god. Maybe some other minor shit too.
So just for clarification, the "satanists" in this case aren't actually satan worshipers, but atheists that organized in to something recognizable by the government for the express purpose of fucking with Christians, right?
In that regard, are there Satanists who claim that God is a tyrant and that Lucifer's dissent was an attempt to free mankind and angels from divine bondage? It'd be an interesting view for one to hold, if anything.
So what would they be going for; a bronze Baphomet? Or do Satanists not use Baphomet in general?
From the article:
Greaves said one potential design involves a pentagram, a satanic symbol, while another is meant to be an interactive display for children.
An interactive satanic display for children is maybe the funniest concept this year
Time for a satanist street protest
I feel like something Pagan, Wicca or Voodoo related would be more effective, since it would have the added effectiveness of having Christians think that's devil worship when it really isn't. That would make the people against it look more like fools because it wouldn't just be a clear attempt to piss them off. With Satanism it's too obvious that they're just trying to make a point.
Hell yes. Glad to know quite a few people here have a basic understanding of LaVeyan Satanism.
It is only going to agrivate the people living in Oklahoma, the Satanists are from across the country. There are a lot of Christians in Oklahoma and its only going to piss people off
So because they don't agree with it, it shouldn't be seen Makes sense
Thats a pretty misinformed view on it, according to the religion Satan is the source of all evil and misjudgement so essentially most if not all the bad shit that God had to do was as a result of his hand being forced. Even the very first thing fhat has upset God, the apple being stolen, was due to the influence of Satan.
So let me see if I got this straight: God created the arch-angel Lucifer(Satan)? Yes? Okay. Lucifer(Beelzebub) decided to go against God. Yes? Alrighty. God cast down a powerful force into an abyss rather than destroying a potentially dangerous foe outright. Got it so far? Bueno. When men went against God, he just destroyed them. According to you, men went against God because of the influence of Lucifer (The Devil). So God is responsible for the mass-murders He Himself committed. Then, in what can only be interpreted as a PR move, God delivered His son to the world through a virgin birth who then proceeded to preach his Father's word, and was eventually executed, but then came back to life and then went to Heaven. So in essence, God didn't sacrifice His son at all.
They would
