But I didn't even explain the context. It's all just a bunch of rules written on some rocks that an old man came out of the desert holding while he claimed that god spoke to him. If the story is even true (the Exodus has already been disproven and Mt. Sinai or and evidence of it has never been discovered) then it's nothing more than a complete wacko/snake-oil salesman who duped his entire tribe.
Just to be clear: The actual Biblical story makes it very clear that the people recognized the presence of God on the mountain because of it literally being surrounded by fire. So it's fine if you want to say the story is false, but don't try and make it seem like the actual story makes it sound like he just wondered out of the desert and handed them the laws.
Lucien Greaves just sounds like a Satanist's name.
Lucien Greaves the name fucking Satan himself would use if he took human form

Well, putty, anyway. Hard-chargin' Satanists have a mockup of a monument to the dark lord (and two rapt kids) that they plan to display in front of the Oklahoma statehouse. "The whole legal plan to install Satan in Oklahoma City is stalled at the moment; the state stopped processing license applications for new statehouse displays after the Satanists got their publicity." thats pretty cool looking
hail satan
I'm a LaVeyan and even I think that's really cool. :v:
Is something wrong with Satan's right knee? :v:
the state stopped processing license applications for new statehouse displays after the Satanists got their publicity."
You can almost feel the butthurt.
Every religion is a crackpot. But if Christianity is allowed to depict images of some random peasant nailed to a cross thousands of years ago - and if the Buddhists can have a giant, overweight, fat gold Statue depicting their God - and so on, then this Satanist religion can surely have their own icon / statue. Provided they arent burning people alive on the street, I see no issue with them having a monument of their own. Its the same as all those Christian religions and sub-divisions dick-waving their big Cathedrals in our face in every Western city. Hell, belief in the Force and the way of the Jedi is a sanctioned, legal religion as far as I remember. Is there such opposition to them erecting a statue / monument of a Lightsabre? No.
But if Christianity is allowed to depict images of some random peasant nailed to a cross thousands of years ago
Uh... I don't wish to bring this topic too far off-topic, but historically speaking Jesus wasn't a random peasant. He was a very important religious and possibly political leader back in his day, and it kind of bothers me when people don't really acknowledge his importance in history considering he is the source of a major religion thats reached out to all known parts of the globe and affected many events in history.
and if the Buddhists can have a giant, overweight, fat gold Statue depicting their God.
[del]Also that giant, overweight, fat statue is Buddha, and he isn't a god but a sage.[/del] Well I got schooled on folklore/history/religion right here That isn't to say I don't agree with your point that they should put up a statue, I'm just pointing these out.
Also that giant, overweight, fat statue is Buddha, and he isn't a god but a sage. That isn't to say I don't agree with your point, I'm just pointing these things out.
That giant, overweight, fat character is actually not THE Buddha. this is Buddha: [t]http://www.wellhappypeaceful.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/buddha.jpg[/t] the overweight character is a folkloric character called Budai
That giant, overweight, fat character is actually not THE Buddha. this is Buddha: the overweight character is a folkloric character called Budai
Huh, I always thought the overweight guy was just another representation of historical Buddha but I never knew about Budai. Guess I learned something today! (and looked incredibly stupid, but what else is new?)
Huh, I always thought the overweight guy was just another representation of historical Buddha but I never knew about Budai. Guess I learned something today! (and looked incredibly stupid, but what else is new?)
It's a very common misconception, don't beat yourself up about it. And that statue is actually pretty cool looking. I wouldn't have known it was supposed to depict Satan if I didn't have the context, so I doubt anyone will find the statue "incredibly offensive," but if they do they're intolerant bigots.
i thought baphomet had boobs
I also red through Satanic Bible, pretty cool shit (and grounded). It deserves statue more than douche god. Irrelevant to book, but: did you know reverse of GOD is DOG, and reverse of EVIL is LIVE, or DEVIL is LIVED?
i thought baphomet had boobs
This is America that would be too far.
I also red through Satanic Bible, pretty cool shit (and grounded). It deserves statue more than douche god.
people always say this but there are parts in the satanic bible telling you to destroy people who bother you

facepunch has a surprising amount of satanists
i thought baphomet had boobs
Aye, Anyone know what the 2 moons depict?
people always say this but there are parts in the satanic bible telling you to destroy people who bother you
So basically it's a religion that tells you to be nobody's bitch? Sign me up!
Aye, Anyone know what the 2 moons depict?
Something about justice and mercy or bad and evil, see below (not sure if it's valid but it's on everything I found about it.) This is what I found on several websites about baphomet.
The goat on the frontispiece carries the sign of the pentagram on the forehead, with one point at the top, a symbol of light, his two hands forming the sign of hermetism, the one pointing up to the white moon of Chesed, the other pointing down to the black one of Geburah. This sign expresses the perfect harmony of mercy with justice.

Aye, Anyone know what the 2 moons depict?

Levi combined elements of the tarot devil card and the he-goat worshipped in antiquity in Mendes, Egypt, which was said to fornicate with its women followers ( as the church claimed the devil did with witches). Levi's Baphomet has a human trunk with rounded, female breasts, a caduceus in the midriff, human arms and hands, cloven feet, wings and a goat's head with a pentagram in the forehead and a torch on top of the skull between the horns. The attributes, Levi said, represented the sum total of the universe - intelligence, the four elements, divine revelation, sex and motherhood and sin and redemption. Hite and black crescent moons at the figure's side represent good and evil.
Basically the artwork depicts the sum of the universe, and the two moons would be good and evil.
So basically it's a religion that tells you to be nobody's bitch? Sign me up!
Basically make it your mission to be as chill and as baller as possible and if someone is cramping your style, fuck them up. I love that one of the Satanic sins is lack of aesthetics. If you're not stylin', you sinnin'. Which is why Anton LaVey was one cool cat.

Personally he had very little impact on anything, really, to the point that there's almost no mention of him in any written works from the period. Obviously he had a large impact after his death, but that's mostly because of the efforts of others than himself. Atleast as far as I know, i'm not an expert on the matter.
[t]http://www.wellhappypeaceful.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/buddha.jpg[/t]
Ehh...I'd hit it
That giant, overweight, fat character is actually not THE Buddha. this is Buddha: [t]http://www.wellhappypeaceful.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/buddha.jpg[/t] the overweight character is a folkloric character called Budai
Even in my religions class, we were never taught this. And yeah, Jesus himself didn't have that large of an historical impact (at the time). In the context of Christianity he did, but there is a ridiculously small amount of written sources that actually confirm Jesus was real.
Aye, Anyone know what the 2 moons depict?
The phases of the moon, also equality/balance between two completely opposite things.
people always say this but there are parts in the satanic bible telling you to destroy people who bother you
and there's biblical scriptures telling you to stone people to death for wearing mixed fabrics??? between the two I think the lavey style commandments(/suggestions?) are wholly relevant to modern society, give or take the meaning of 'destroy' as he often used. It tells you that if someone 'bothers' you, you tell them to stop. Then, if they continue, do what needs to be done to get them the fuck out of your face because their continued existence in your life is detrimental to you. It's talking on a grand scale of how they affect you and your doings as a person, not like "this one dude looked at me funny ima go bash his face in"
Plenty of people here are mixing up- The guys behind the statue are the Temple of Satan satanists, which are not affiliated in any shape or form with the Church of Satan, the LaVeyan one.
Aye,
Luci fucking pher, artist put the pentagram in the wrong direction.
facepunch has a surprising amount of satanists
I don't think most of them are hardcore-serious about it though.
