What if I'm using GNU/Linux? [editline]17th October 2015[/editline] goddamit facepunch gives me a windows flag
It's things like this why I'll always prefer AMD. AMD is a whole lot more open with their products.
I really don't trust a piece of software to install GPU drivers for me, especially not when said software is arguably a piece of garbage. Like so many before them, Nvidia's trying to make things simple and helpful, even though they'll only cause frustration and headaches. I may be overly careful, but I always do a thorough cleaning of the registry and everything (using DDU) before I install new drivers Also, does W10 really install GPU drivers automatically? Funny how people hate on 8.1 while praising 10, even though it's worse when it comes to p much everything apart from the start menu.
I don't think GFE has ever managed to successfully update my drivers. I always just grab the drivers from geforce.com when I get the update prompt.
Ive never had issues with Nvidia and have pretty much always used their cards. This is easily going to make me change to AMD for now unless Nvidia fixes their shit and dont do this. I dont want my fucking drivers to be handled by clunky programs, just let me fucking install them and let me pick the ones I want when I want. Of all the things Nvidia didnt need to do, this is so high on the list, absolutely nothing about Nvidia drivers were bad, this is just straight up more clunky bullshit to go through.
AMD has a similar service but when you click to go to the update, it shoots you to their website instead. Its kinda funny.

Hmm, speaking of drivers... I think last time I updated my nvidia gpu driver was at GTAV release. I have 0 patience to do it frequently plus I have been only playing csgo and dota, so I'm pretty sure it's ok to have outdated drivers. Anyway, I have a feeling I'll do an update in a few weeks (if they release a driver due Fallout 4 release)
They know the AMD ship is going down now, so they're now sure they can do stuff like this and people have to like it because they have no choice, expect more price rises and more bullshit business practices incoming. When AMD ceases to exist in a year or so it will end up it costing £600 for something akin to a GTX970.
Just upgraded to GTX 980Ti and never had single issue. Same with new windows transition. Guess I'm lucky.
This is why I will keep sticking to W8.1 in the meantime until W10 gets more stable.
Been running it since release, not one issue
