Oh you're referring to the BC provincial Liberals? Well in that case I agree with you 100%. They're fucking useless and Clark is as corrupt as they come. I will never vote for them.
Us in the BC liquor industry expect the government liquor stores to be sold off wholesale to Jimmy Patterson soon. All their money making has been shifted to the warehouse distributor and the stores have been selling everything at or or slightly above cost since 1 April 2015. If in a few years the provincial government announces they're privatizing the government liquor chain you know why.
Pretty sure those who claim that they will not vote Liberals this 2019 made up their mind even before this was announced.
I voted liberal and will not in the next election unless serious ground is made on this promise, which it seems like they've abandoned. We've had a very liberal population with elections that have consistently swung hilariously conservative because the liberal vote is split between 3 parties (though mostly into two).
It was stupid to make such a bold promise but people didn't give a shit about electoral reform. I'm pretty sure none of you people even bothered to fill the survey on mydemocracy.ca (or perhaps never even heard of it)
Again, speak for yourself dude, you're making claims while knowing nothing about any of us, and you're objectively wrong. I filled it out, and I care. I do feel that many people did not hear about the survey, though.
I should really pay more attention to my own politics.
Trudeau is now Canadian version of Obama by making some false promises for all us, and now get ready for next Canadian trump and people don't trust your mainstream news all time because it may contain Liberals/Conservative status quo propaganda. (Sorry for long words put warn for foreseen consequences)
How is Canada's current electoral system, and how prominent was this pledge in the election?
All I can say is nip it in the bud right now, do not make the same mistake we made and ignore it until a literal Hitler shows up (I consider Trump to be more of a Mussolini).
don't project skewed american politics onto us by giving cute warnings to not elect people because they're right-wing
i thought O'Leary was expected to have trouble winning because he doesn't speak French? is he really THAT appealing to your Conservative party?
I voted NDP last elections because my brother worked for them as an archive researcher (he's moved on to another job since) and he got to meet Tom personally. Also, he firmly believed in their cause. I'm not surprised at all that the Liberals would drop this promise since they won with the old system but I'm wondering if it would have been any different had the NDP won. I'll text my brother about it, see what he thinks.
So I got a reply from by brother:
It's hard to say because the NDP has never won a federal election. Clearly, Trudeau cheated us. He hasn't held his promise because the electoral reform could have meant the end of majority governments. Personally I firmly believe the NDP would have tried to implement the electoral reforms within the first year, had they won.

i thought O'Leary was expected to have trouble winning because he doesn't speak French? is he really THAT appealing to your Conservative party?
Doesn't speak French Anti-gun Disrespectful comments about the military I don't think he can win the Conservative leadership because gun owners and military/veterans are huge voting blocs for the Conservatives and he's already alienated them.
It's ridiculous more democracies do not already have PR with SVT. It is a wonderful system that minimises extremities and forces politicians to actually work in government, for the most part. I'm not going to pretend our governments are perfect (they most certainly are no-where near that) or that the system works 100% of the time, but it is simply much more representative and reflective of the country. You'd prevent what's happening in Britain and America if you had a system like PR-SVT in place in both those countries.
Why does the Canadian people need to "show clear support" for objectively and demonstrably better electoral systems to be introduced?
