Captain jack was the only right way to make a protagonist gay, because it didnt matter and added funny-ass lines
And his being gay is not part of some wider story line meant to be exploited or undone down the road, either.

"This was my idea," Robinson explained this week, noting that before DC relaunched all its titles last summer, Alan Scott had a son who was gay.

But given "Earth 2" features retooled and rebooted characters, Scott is not old enough to have a grown son.
"By making him younger, that son was not going to exist anymore," Robinson said.
"He doesn't come out. He's gay when we see him in issue two," which is due out Wednesday. "He's fearless and he's honest to the point where he realized he was gay and he said 'I'm gay.'"

"It was just meant to be — Alan Scott being a gay member of the team, the Justice Society, that I'll be forming in the pages of 'Earth 2,'" he said. "He's just meant to be
part of this big tapestry of characters."
It's also another example of gay and lesbian characters taking more prominent roles in the medium.
In May, Marvel Entertainment said super speedster Northstar will marry his longtime boyfriend in the pages of "Astonishing X-Men." DC comics has other gay characters, too, including Kate Kane, the current Batwoman.
And in the pages of Archie Comics, Kevin Keller is one of the gang at Riverdale High School and gay, too.
Some groups have protested the inclusion of gay characters, but Robinson isn't discouraged, noting that being gay is just one aspect to Scott.
"This guy, he's a media mogul, a hero, a dynamic type-A personality and he's gay," Robinson said. "He's a complex character."
I'm serious. It's like they're trying to hard to emphasize that he's gay.
"He can fly, teleport, use telepathy, turn invisible, go through walls---oh yeah, and the most important thing! He's gay. He's a gay superhero."

The Rainbow Lantern
FUCKING BIOWARE

Best thing is that since there is a lantern core based on all of those colors this has probably happened at some point.

pfff its not even the black one
Comics are supposed to be about good guys fighting bad guys, not about stuff like homosexuality
i don't read comics but i'm pretty sure the personal lives of characters plays a pretty big role in the stories, like spiderman being straight introduces MJ and the writers can introduce entire stories about MJ falling for another dude or getting kidnapped or something.

Not even Earth One Green Lantern.

Batgirl/Oracle?
Wow I literally just bought some Green Lantern merchandise today
Coincidence
did anyone ever find romantic interests in super hero comics interesting anyway?
unless a main plot point is when the villains bait him into a trap with rock hard cock, theres no point in saying a character is gay, straight, or whatever.
it mattered for batman allot, mostly because his (potential) love interests are crucial characters
This and the thing about Mike and Ikes is fucking retarded.
Superheros are almost constantly showed as being straight, I don't know where some of you are getting the whole "they should be asexual" idea from. You may have not read any comics other than The Dandy but a lot of superheros have love interests that are important to the story.
why did they do this to a well-Established character and not with one of the huge amounts of new characters?
Why didn't they just make a new character who was gay, rather than making a massive fuss about changing a character who is already well established?

And here was me thinking they were supposed to be about engaging stories!

New 52 reboot.
I don't mind it as long as they eventually allow him to absorb the power he has making him the best GL again like what happened before the reboot.
why are people acting like kids are still the base comic book audience this isn't 1950 comic books are basically for teenaged and adult nerds like ourselves now.
