I remember playing through the game on first try with a squad of friends, I have no memory of it being hard. I did only finish it on the hard difficulty tho I guess.

I remember playing this with some friends when it first came out, and we beat all the levels but the last on the hardest difficulty and then never played again.

I remember getting all the speed run achievements with friends when this came out. We eventually found some kind of boosting trick to get across gaps that changes how we ran most of the maps and crushed some of the tims needed for completing them. Shit was fun.

I once fell out of the first map by rolling over the basketball and over the railing while playing with FloaterTWO. Because there's no fall damage in AS I got stuck down the bottom under the map with no way to die.

Well that's neat. Used to play this with a few other FPers and we had a pretty great time with it for a while.

Man, this game was fucking great.

This game was fun. Helldivers sort of served as a replacement except Helldivers was more like Starship Troopers: The Game while Alien Swarm was Aliens: The Game

literally all this game needed was more maps and campaigns and characters, when I first got into the game I was THOROUGHLY disappointed when they weren't going to make any. Here's hoping that steam workshop adds a whole lot more.

Crazy to see everyone in this thread praising the game, I thought it was super fun and I always wondered why they never added more to it but I guessed it was just too obscure. Wasted opportunity, I'm sure they could have even released some paid DLC missions and people would have bought them.

i loved alien swarm, definitely playing this

This game was the shit.

Valve really should have released this more content. You can't just expect the playerbase to make the rest of the game when you don't have one yet. At least not without a very simple and fun to use map editor

The title needs to be updated to clarify that it isn't an expansion for Alien Swarm, but rather a standalone mod that looks really bad from the screenshots and shows that the developers know nothing about what Alien Swarm really is.

[editline]9th January 2017[/editline] I tried mapping for Alien Swarm once, it was literally Hammer except you had to guess where the camera was gonna be and it never fucking worked correctly/predictably. I built a spawnroom, a hallway and threw the entire idea in the trash and never touched the game again
