I'm surprised Fox has a problem with this game... it's so... American! You get to play as a Marine killing Islamics and shit.... Oh wait, I'm thinking of COD4... but I'd assume it's not that different from MW2...
That's why I love it. :patriot:
I wish the interview went like this; Fox: It's real violence Guy: No, it's pixelated, fake violence. Fox: No, it's real. If Fox says it's real, it's real. Guy: What's even the point of arguing with you stupid fucks?
To be perfectly fair and balanced about it FOX may be a running joke but studies don't lie. Some people, children especially, have more of a gray area between real life and 'acceptable' behavior learned from other media, video games included.
If you never sympathise with fictional characters, you may as well not read books or watch films and T.V. programmes.
In books and films the characters have stories behind them, which causes us to develop a bond with the characters. These are just people who we don't even know the name of.
I don't know about you guys, but I had fun killing those polygons.
:foxnews: SE-XBOX SE-XBOX YOU'RE A SE-XBOX. More at 11. :foxnews:
I just [sp]got through the slaughter mission[/sp], that was pretty fucked up
Get over it Fox News, it's a great game. Although I have to admit that was one fucking brutal level. I laughed. [editline]09:01PM[/editline]
I just [sp]got through the slaughter mission[/sp], that was pretty fucked up
Yeah, agreed. Still fun though :P
They should have mentioned something about it being able to skip the "offensive parts."

Wheres Jacko, is he making a late appearance?
There never was a game were you played as a Nazi.
you play as a Wehrmacht general.
who actually played that game
Violence is only controversial if the game is popular.
Knowing Fox, and them being the prime example of stupidity, it's just a game. They act as if it were a real act of terrorism :downs:.

I just beat the game, its actually fantastic! Ending is really good, and the America part kinda made me sad, I saw my old neighborhood.
It gives you the option to skip the mission. I don't see how someone can "stumble upon" this mission, therefore, it shouldn't be a problem. It was a bit disturbing, but I'm smart enough to know that it's a bunch of damn pixels. Any parent who gets "offended", doesn't have to allow their kids to play it. If the kid plays it anyways, then they shouldn't have let the kid buy it in the first place.
who actually played that game
alot of people.
We had games that let you play as a Nazi, so why not terrorist?
What game lets you play as a nazi?

Although I do think this game should not be looked down upon because of this one mission, it's not hard to see where they are coming from. Impressionable kids will be playing this game, maybe already a bit wacky but who cares. They come across the level and start blasting away at everyone they see, take pleasure from it, and start thinking hey I did this in a game I might start doing similar stuff in real life. Of course it isn't as exaggerated as that, but there will always be dumb kids who cross things from games over to real life.
I am not certain weather the following occurrence in a videogame deserves such an enormous amount of attention, but it was clearly an offensive scenario that had a rather high capacity of insulting a particular group(s) of people. First of all, usually violent games, even about terrorists and psychopaths manage to follow a unique path of atmospheric structure that make then non offensive by making sure that those particular areas are either significantly watered down or not paid attention to. Even the most noticeable/violent examples usually manage to either stay anonymous, detached from reality, or non offensive, most likely due to developers wanting them to exist in such a manner. Various titles such as Ghost Recon, Delta Force, Operation Flash point, and other titles somehow manage to make the offensive content almost unnoticeable even considering the fact that at times it clearly appears to exist. I am not sure how to explain it properly, but at times such a curious phenomena can be observed by simply playing most of the titles that are even remotely attached to realistic warfare. The following mission was created almost as if it wanted to demonstrate that a specific group of people are terrorists, everything was clear, very attached to reality, and obvious. Not even minor attempts were made to make this mission seem neutral or anonymous, there was constantly an impression that it was trying to make the player pay attention to what was actually going on scenario wise, instead of somehow making it seem unimportant or unneeded of attention. The mission also had a very cinematic feeling to it that submerged you into it's atmosphere, the level design was very immersive and believable. The overall nature of the mission itself was quite unpleasant as well, instead of having an entertaining match that consisted of tactical steps to complete an objective such as capturing a point or shooting some random guy in a uniform, it consisted of non stop mowing down of innocent civilians which clearly had no involvement in anything. This mission is not only offensive universally, but also offensive towards a group of people known as Russians, and it was quite difficult for me to ignore it, due to me being one myself, this scenario is antagonizing beyond belief. Do get me wrong, i did not jump around my room while ripping chunks of hair out of my head, but seeing this was definitely unpleasant, even more so considering the fact that this could have easily been avoided, and due to the fact that the responses of this thread have a very high ratio of careless/supportive comments, compared to the ones that agree with the fact that this scenario was actually quite offensive. Although i am glad that it has an option to skip the mission.
I saw this coming before they made the 1st modern warfare.
