60 and they shattered his femur? Holy shit, that may be a death sentence. Elderly do not bounce back from pelvic and/or femur breaks like younger people can. I suspect he probably doesn't have the greatest health insurance(if he bothers over looking for a single cigarette). So I bet his physical therapy is going to be severely limited if not nonexistent. Nice going cops, didn't even bother to find out if it's his car before opening fire.

It's just as well the training is shit otherwise they may of actually hit him.
are the lives of the police officers worth less than that of a random bystander? everyone's life is equal.
It's not that they are worth less, it's that they have already practically promised to put themselves in danger for safety of others. It's literally in their job description, and it's part of their payroll. How often do you see a firemen standing around a burning house, going "WELL THERE IS A FAMILY INSIDE, BUT IT'S NOT LIKE THEIR LIVES ARE WORTH MORE THAN OURS, IS IT?" They don't go into suicide missions, but they definitely put themselves into great risk willingly, and many end up paying for it. If you don't like your odds, don't be a policeman/firefighter/any sort of emergency responder. Once you agree to become one of them, you are expected to put yourself in danger in sake of others.
Sounds to me these officers were a little jumpy...
I bet they looked something like this.
more like
Does anyone know what happened when the officers got there? I highly doubt they just walked up, saw him and shot him. How do you guys know the cops weren't already telling him to stop and turn around? Maybe the cops were on scene already telling him to freeze, turn around, stop what he's doing, etc. if I were a cop, and was telling someone to stop what they are doing, then they turn around with something resembling a handgun, yes I would shoot. Also everyone saying that a cop should be ready to die for an innocent, that is true to an extent. If an officer is responding to a stabbing, and gets into an accident, the priority would be to help the officer, because while one innocent death is horrible, you never know how many lives a officer can save. The victim of the stabbing may die, but the next day the officer can perform a traffic stop on a vehicle, something a normal citizen can't do, and find tons of guns and explosives that the driver was planning to use in a public area. I know this post will receive tons of dumbs, so I apologize in advance for voicing my opinion. [editline]31st July 2013[/editline]
Wow, gross incompetence is why he was shot, AND why he survived! I have an idea to solve the trigger-happy cop problem. How about we take their guns away, and lock them in a box in the cruiser that can only be opened with radioed approval from dispatch? Get on the radio and give a good reason why you need lethal force, or make due with a taser and a baton like a real cop. While we're at it, how about we get the police academy to teach something other than "Shoot first, shoot later, shoot some more, then when everyone's dead write 'resisting arrest' in your report."
Okay good plan so when this police officer starts being shot at he should wait for approval to get his gun: CAUTION, YOU HEAR SOMEONE DIE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8-ycSkoYfc [editline]31st July 2013[/editline]
It's not that they are worth less, it's that they have already practically promised to put themselves in danger for safety of others. A firefighters life can end to get someone out of a burning building. If an officers life ends to get a family out of a building with a gunman in it, no one will be able to keep the gunman inside the building and he can get away, or worse, start shooting everyone.
Monkey King Bar: Prevents attacks from missing.
the police turned off theirs.
Why aren't we just replacing the bullets with rubber ones? They still hurt like a bitch and are probably cheaper than the 17 they wasted. Plus they'd stop the tons of cases like these we keep seeing. Maybe after they actually trained their officers they would be allowed real bullets. :downs:

"didnt anyone ever tell you..." *officer puts on sunglasses* "...smoking kills?"
It's just as well the training is shit otherwise they may of actually hit him.
If the training was good they may not have fired shots at all

my comments would have been more along the lines of "I'm taking every dime these fuckers have"
Sensationalist Headline thread titles should only be the name of the article. People just don't bother to read the article before posting when they see such a fucking stupid thread title. Good job OP!
It's sad that if you see a black man holding an unidentified object it's automatically a gun and you should open fire.
“He could’ve been killed. The Lord shielded him,” she said.
Confirmed for paladin.
more like "They need to be fired, permanently"
Was that intentional?
Was that intentional?
I have literally no idea what you're saying but "Fired, permanently" isn't even close to fired at
As bad as it is that the man was shot, the police acted in response to a possible threat. They were responding to a burglary, which means the man could've had a gun. They saw him holding something that looked like a gun. The fact that they missed 16 times is definitely bad on them, but the cops did the right thing. Shit like that happens all the time at traffic stops. An officer hesitates to fire or pull out a gun and the next thing you know he has a bullet in his head. The whole, Id rather a dead cop than a dead innocent thing? How do you know that the guy is innocent. A criminal and a normal guy look the same. They both have skin, and eyes, and a mouth, most have 2 legs and 2 arms. The only difference is one is gonna pull a gun on you. Maybe an innocent or two get hurt or die along the line, but I'd rather a few dead innocent people than criminals all over killing as they please, with police afraid to shoot.
well i hope you realize when you say 'i'd rather a few dead innocents' you're putting yourself in the firing line next time you're carrying a torch around some trigger happy deputy
I hope he realizes when he says "I'd rather a few dead innocents" that makes him a terrible human being. [editline]31st July 2013[/editline] Seriously dude you think criminals would start going on killing sprees because they think police are afraid to shoot? Was that a serious post?
well i hope you realize when you say 'i'd rather a few dead innocents' you're putting yourself in the firing line next time you're carrying a torch around some trigger happy deputy
At the residence in which there was a burglary called. After the deputies probably told him to get out of the car and show them his hands. At night. It's a bad situation overall, but it could've been a gun. 1 dead innocent > 2 dead cops and a criminal with a weapon. Was that a serious post?
Thanks for the assumption I'm a terrible human being. I bet you're quite the morally perfect man yourself. I'm not saying people are gonna kill just to kill, sorry if it sounded like that. I mean, if an officer doesn't take a shot it might mean the death of an innocent. For example, a hostage situation. [editline]31st July 2013[/editline] Sorry if I sound like a dick. I honestly hope nobody gets harmed, but people should step into the cop's shoes. A man at night at the address of an alledged burglary comes out of a car with an unidentifiable object. If you had a weapon, would you defend yourself? Or would you lay down and hope you don't die, like many of you think is the best option.
Who fucking hired Liberty City's cops holy shit
Who fucking hired Liberty City's cops holy shit
I'm playing GTA IV right now oh the irony.
No way he can survive 17 shots unless hes 50 cent.
