The Japanese, and many other governments throughout history, used to tie live, conscious people to stakes and test bombs or chemical weapons on them. So honestly, if they're drugged past being aware of their surroundings, and if blowing them up actually saves human lives at some point, I don't really care.

Anyway, I don't see it as being a huge problem. Sure, you will get all the animal lovers crying out over it, but really when you consider that pigs are being chopped up every day for food (and that is without anaesthetic) it's really not a big deal - especially if it means it will save lives.

Although I will say I am glad that humans are the dominant species and not pigs...
