On a related note, I'm having kind of a giggle at this picture of the parade. [t]https://68.media.tumblr.com/309c7ec905fe1e0660db6af23b3498fd/tumblr_ok3p5zSKNk1qz4eqqo1_540.jpg[/t]
Take a photo where they weren't setting up!!! Also re: crowd size. Watch the entire thing yourself. https://youtu.be/PdantUf5tXg
I disagree with the notion that the MLK bust being moved/removed was newsworthy in and of itself, but the bit about this being the most witnessed inauguration, at least in person, is blatantly incorrect.
i should have clarified that i was meaning to focus that towards the trump
Take a photo where they weren't setting up!!! Also re: crowd size. Watch the entire thing yourself. https://youtu.be/PdantUf5tXg
Wasn't my photo!
I hope the media shits on him even harder over this.
The crowd looks somewhat smaller, I don't think there's much to debate there. I don't know why that is relevant to anyone though. Especially considering it's mostly DC and area folks, and even thing like the wheather play a role.
Maybe we should start fining news media corporations everytime they print a mistake regardless of intent, so that there's adequate motivation to to uphold the truth.
Sure, we'll do that at the same time we start cracking down on dishonest politicians who openly and unashamedly lie to the American people and punishing them for their behavior. We need accountability against them too after all, right?
you can also say that martians are purple and 10 feet tall, but until you give me adequate proof I'm going to doubt your claim. Maybe we should start fining news media corporations everytime they print a mistake regardless of intent, so that there's adequate motivation to to uphold the truth.
I honestly don't see what you're getting at here. I said that moving/removing a bust wasn't newsworthy (which it isn't, presidents redecorate everytime a new one moves in. Big Deal.), and as for the "adequate proof", you can see the picture in the OP yourself, or even the video that was linked. Both clearly shows less people there, and until they release numbers on the number of people that attended, it will remain observable that there were less people there. In fact, according to the Wall Street Journal, he trailed Obama's first inaugural by about 7 million viewers on the television. You could take both of these points together and reasonably extrapolate it to a larger scale and assume that not as many people cared to watch.
The truth is subjective anyway, so determining which news sources are "fake" and which ones aren't is a dicey matter. Same for peaceful protest. Some of the bills introduced in the last week blur the line between peaceful protest (protected under the first amendment) and "traffic obstruction" - as if protesting can take place anywhere else but literally in the streets.
This four years can't end fast enough.

are you serious. first press briefing of the new administration and it's about the turnout to the inauguration? are you fucking kidding me?
are you serious. first press briefing of the new administration and it's about the turnout to the inauguration? are you fucking kidding me?
It's the most insecure presidency ever
If I was an anti-American jihadist I would be laughing my ass off right now. The new president on his first full day of being president is calling a press conference to complain that the media is being mean to him. This looks so weak.
This wasn't even 5 minutes later. It was pretty much the next damn sentence.

... It was almost impossible to listen to him without being first convinced and then maddened. At every few moments the fury of the crowd boiled over and the voice of the speaker was drowned by a wild beast-like roaring that rose uncontrollably from thousands of throats. The most savage yells of all came from the schoolchildren. The speech had been proceeding for perhaps twenty minutes when a messenger hurried on to the platform and a scrap of paper was slipped into the speaker's hand. He unrolled and read it without pausing in his speech. Nothing altered in his voice or manner, or in the content of what he was saying, but suddenly the names were different. Without words said, a wave of understanding rippled through the crowd. Oceania was at war with Eastasia! .. The thing that impressed Winston in looking back was that the speaker had switched from one line to the other actually in midsentence, not only without a pause, but without even breaking the syntax. But at the moment he had other things to preoccupy him.
Because holy shit there's a lot of awful people who wouldn't be there for any other president.
I wonder what it would take to get people to consider that he's not playing 4d chess and that he was just the wrong man in the right place at the right time
bumpit because there's no point in creating a new thread
Kellyanne Conway: WH Spokesman Gave ‘Alternative Facts’ on Inauguration Crowd "These attempts to lessen the enthusiasm of the inauguration are shameful and wrong," Spicer said Saturday. "You're saying it's a falsehood and Sean Spicer, our press secretary, gave alternative facts to that," she told NBC's Chuck Todd. She then went on to echo Spicer's claim on Saturday that it wasn't possible to count the crowd, despite Trump's team's accompanying insistence that it was the "largest audience." "I don't think you can prove those numbers one way or another. There's no way to quantify crowd numbers," Conway said. Conway also suggested that Todd's insistence on asking why Spicer delivered a demonstrably false statement could affect the White House's treatment of the media. "If we're going to keep referring to the press secretary in those types of terms I think we're going to have to rethink our relationship here," she said. There's no such thing as "alternative facts". Those are called lies.
