Biological toxin weapons are generally under the umbrella of chemical weapons, rather than biological ones. A biological toxin functions exactly the same as a chemical weapon. It will affect one area and only kill/hurt those directly exposed to the toxin. They are technically still bio weapons, but they are a far far cry from what people are actually concerned about when it comes to biological weapons. Ricin and Botox are only really likely to harm those with direct contact. The strength and extreme danger of a living biological weapon is its ability to self replicate. A genetically modified infectious disease would devastate your enemy and would have absolutely zero friend or foe identification (barring some pretty major R&D, and even then you run major risks). Weaponized versions of common infectious agents could do more damage than a nuke.
Biological weapons are not chemical warfare weapons. Biological weapons are bacteria, viruses, and toxins. Chemical weapons are things like nerve, blister, lewisite, riot control agents etc. . It's important to know the distinction because there are different treatment methods for the two (you'd give MARK-1 kits for chemical agent casualties vice giving antibiotics for someone suffering from biological agent casualties). Yes they have the same purpose essentially (death for most of them, blister agents and riot control agents are for incapacitating). Biological agents tend to create longer lasting chronic conditions due to the fact they living things (transfer from person to person) while chemical agents aren't actually bacteria, viruses, or toxins (spread through direct contact with the agent, or aerosolized forms).
This is what I meant earlier...
Holy shit, there are few things facepunch are so eager to discuss more than warfare. One of them being gun-laws, and fandoms. But dont take me wrong, reading through disussions like these, filled with all kinds of arguments and perspectives really is interesting.
I wouner what you happend to any American Tourist in NK when NK make's war.?
Eaten alive, probably. Nothing personal. Just hunger.
Do they know what the element of surprise is?
It's gonna be Pearl Harbour all over again [editline]9th March 2013[/editline] kind of
most of the technology used by NATO is cold war era.
It's also been modernised, pretty much every time a technological advancement was made. The M1 Abrams of 1980 doesn't hold a candle to the M1A2 Abrams of 2013. The M1A2 has many advancements that make it far superior to the original M1. If something works, why change it? We've used the M2 Browning since 1933. Because it works.
What sane person would even visit NK just for tourism.
to see how fucked up the country is.
i know, this wasn't my original point at all i wasn't saying old = shit but instead made a jab at j!nx for implying cold war era tech is somehow only used in NK whilst NATO uses some super advanced robotic sci-fi shit
I don't really give a damn about NATO atm, I'm talking countries independently. North Korea is far more cold war than NATO because they literally have a cold war communist dictatorship-esque mentality.
to see how fucked up the country is.
Too bad they show you nothing but the "good" parts while trying to brainwash you into hating the western world.
that's what the USSR thought of Finland in 1939 and Finland wasn't even a batshit crazy near-suicidal dictatorship living in the la-la land
Except the Soviet Union had NK tech and tactics and Finland had NATO tech and tactics.
Except the Soviet Union had NK tech and tactics and Finland had NATO tech and tactics.
finland didn't have nato tech i thought many of them used old equipment (and continued to do so)
Except the Soviet Union had NK tech and tactics and Finland had NATO tech and tactics.
How about you go and read the Wiki article on the Winter War instead of sprouting bullshit? Finland barely had any tech.
Except the Soviet Union had NK tech and tactics and Finland had NATO tech and tactics.
there was no nato back then and finland doesn't belong to it anyways
How about you go and read the Wiki article on the Winter War instead of sprouting bullshit? Finland barely had any tech.
This, Finland was to a huge extent reliant on scavenging equipment left behind by or stolen from the sovjet union.
Except the Soviet Union had NK tech and tactics and Finland had NATO tech and tactics.
Eh, NATO didn't even exist at that time. Also the Soviet Union had Soviet Union tech..... Finland, indeed, barely had any tech.
I think the war will not be happen

Where's Dennis Rodman to tell us he just wants a cup of sugar?
Where's Dennis Rodman to tell us he just wants a cup of sugar?
Shit, if I met Dennis Rodman I can't say I wouldn't want to wage a war, too I mean he was good and all when Jordan and Pippin were by his side on the court, but come on
woah!!!!!!!!!!!! look out guys!! north korea is coming!!!
Was that supposed to be funny?
Was that supposed to be funny?
They won't invade lol.
They won't invade lol.
Maybe not mainland USA but they'll sure as shit invade and/or bomb and shell the fuck out of SK. They did it before. I guess you forgot about how the Korean War started to begin with.
They won't invade lol.
Yes because army is mobilized for nothing. [editline]11th March 2013[/editline] Contrary to what you may believe and or hear, North Korea's military is far more competent - even with 1950's era technology - than they are given credit for and they have a massive fanaticism driving them forward. Conversely, South Korea is one of the most incompetent nations on the planet and arguably have regressed since the Korean war - if that's even possible - regardless of the American help. North Korea has something like 20,000 field artillery pieces capable of striking Seoul at a moment's notice, even if by some miracle the missile shields are way more advanced than thought and ~90% of the shells are intercepted before they land that's still 2,000 shells a volley hitting one of the most densely populated areas on the planet. There are only ~28,000 American troops in South Korea that would be tasked with keeping the huge numbers of North Koreans from just steamrolling the unprepared South and slaughtering their way to a second Pusan-pocket type situation. It'll be a completely devastating war for South Korea - probably in the neighborhood of seven to upwards of twenty million deaths - and eventually after reinforcements arrive, the US airpower'll grind down the North Koreans and the US'll blitzkrieg north until the last remnants of Kim Jong Un's regime is thrown into China.

I guess you forgot about how the Korean War started to begin with.
They won't have a big invasion, and/or use nuclear bombs. At most they are going to probably bomb a village and then yell about how the imperialists have backed down.
They won't have a big invasion, and/or use nuclear bombs. At most they are going to probably bomb a village and then yell about how the imperialists have backed down.
I bet you never though they'd go this far. I would suggest not taking this with a grain of salt.
I'd really just like some certainty on whether they are actually going to do something. It'd be catastrophic if they did, but not knowing which way it will go is really disconcerting.
I bet you never though they'd go this far. I would suggest not taking this with a grain of salt.
They've gone further than this before.
