My roommate was laughing when I told him the news because I made such a big huge deal about the mod. I now owe him 20 bucks because of the release date.
I don't see a point if it isn't realeased in jan. or early feb., likely i will lose interest.
Try waiting for it for 6 years like I have. I found out about it the day I beat half-life 2...

[release]Hello Black Mesa fans!
We come to you once again with an update. It's now the end of 2009, and we know many of you have literally counted the days down until this fateful month. We are floored by the level of support you have given us and are very excited we're so close to reaching our goal.
Unfortunately, to our great disappointment, Black Mesa will not make a 2009 release.
Cynics may now rejoice, bets may be collected, and I think a mod team member has to eat his shoe, but we hope our loyal fans will forgive us and realize that the delay will translate into a better final product that's (hopefully) more easily available to everyone.
Once again we apologize for what has to be very disappointing news. We placed a 2009 deadline on ourselves to motivate us and bring this 6 year project to a close. And while we didn't quite make it, we have come very close, and you can expect a complete, polished game to hit your hard drives in the near future. We'll be sure and update if anything changes. Until then, hang tight, it's coming![/release]
:sigh:
For those who don't know what it is:
http://www.blackmesasource.com/about.html
It's basically a recreation of half-life using the source engines full capabilities (updated graphics, new physics, sounds, textures, completely redone levels from scratch, etc.) It has singleplayer, COOP, and deathmatch, and when it comes out will LITERALLY be the best game to ever exist ever.
I don't even care anymore. Seriously.
Who actually thought it would?
Most of these people didn't read the fucking OP;
They are just like: "HOLY FUCK SOMETHING ABOUT BLACK MESA, I HAVE TO POST RIGHT NOW!"
It looks fucking awesome.

It's fucking free!

Oh that fucking sucks, i was expecting it..
What is it with not only Valve's games, but seemingly virtually everything that has ever been released on the Source engine, being delayed? Random bugs appearing must be a feature of the development kit.
Speaking of mods that will never come out; What the fuck ever happened to They Hunger: Lost Souls, the retail sequel to the original trilogy that was supposed to be "pretty much finished" back in 2007? Does it really take that much effort to post up a notice saying "sup guys, we're still here...still doing shit." They haven't updated the page in two years, aside from updating the copyright years.
and TH:LS is supposedly going to be sold for real cash.
They're still well on their way to finishing it, but they've still got quite a bit of work to be done. It will be released, it is anything but vapourware.
I'm so glad they're actually working on it. they really stuck through to the end.
I guess after this at least ONE of them could apply to valve.
I'm sure they'd gladly accept their application.
Working for valve for me would be a dream come true
oh my fucking god this is taking forever
It will be released in a few months

This pleases me, because i won't be building a computer capable of running it until after christmas :)
I already anticipated another delay. I'm not too concerned, I lost interest in the whole thing. When it does come out (If it does) I'll play it, but it's nothing I'm going to sit and wait for.
Black Mesa Source time is worse than Valve time.
I could tell that was gonna happen, I've actually lost all interest in Mesa because of how damn long it has taken to come out.
It's a shame, but it's really no surprise :\

Epochs!
Duke Nukem never came out, and Spore turned out to be a hideous bastardized shadow of what it could have been.
Blammo.
We waited for Team Fortress 2.
We waited for Team Fortress 2.
Hell yes. Remember back when they were calling it "Brotherhood of Arms" and it had a military style? Funny stuff :D
Also, Black Mesa is coming out on Christmas, so they can say "Hah fooled you! Merry Christmas :D"
Oh if only I could believe that :frown:
I like how you guys bitch and moan over a free-ware mod that is given to you freely as a gift. By normal people just like you and I.
This is taking the same path Dystopia did.
Most of the big source mods have faded into obscurity. I think this is going to be one of the last, if it is ever released.
...except dystopia is actually released, is a total conversion that is orignal and not just a remake, and is a very solid fun game that always has atleast someone playing (even if it's not a lot this late in it's life).
