If they improved the enemy/combat AI I'd be all for it
Tomb Raider was 60 fps so I don't see why they couldn't do it for this. Not to turn this into a console war thread but this is definitely the reason I bought a PS4.
The multiplayer in this game is really good, and still active.
You speak as if the game has been out for a decade. Of course the multiplayer is still active.
You speak as if the game has been out for a decade. Of course the multiplayer is still active.
Well, not necessarily. I've seen plenty of multiplayer communities tank in a matter of months (looking at you, Crysis 3).
Interested to see how much better it looks.
Well that's reason enough alone to want to pick it up. Wonder how they're going to handle 60fps gameplay with their 30fps cutscenes though; that might be jarring if they aren't careful.
This is naughty dog we are talking about. Any and all serious issues will be addressed knowing them. I'm dying to see how gorgeous this game looks on PS4. Hoping for some notable improvements.
They were exceptional for the PS3, but it was definitely a technically ambitious game that was being constrained by the hardware it was on. 1280x720 with no AA, poor distance LOD, blocky shadows, non-reflective water, and a framerate that occasionally struggled to maintain 30fps. EDIT: Some good examples. The game looks great for the PS3 and it's even better in motion, but there's plenty of room for improvement.
It worked with Tomb Raider.
Did it really? Everyone I know seemed to either laugh their ass off when they saw the pictures or just say it looked like shit.
I remember being impressed with this game when I watched an LP but man, full res stills make it look horrid
It's less noticeable ingame; I'm still impressed with how the game looks. Honestly, given the PS3's hardware it's half a miracle the game looks and runs as well as it does. [editline]9th April 2014[/editline]
Did it really? Everyone I know seemed to either laugh their ass off when they saw the pictures or just say it looked like shit.
Yeah, but if I'm not mistaken it sold pretty well and finally made the game profitable. Tomb Raider was an odd choice for a remaster though, given it was a multiplatform title to begin with and it looked (and still looks) stunning on PC. In that respect, it wasn't much of an improvement.
Did it really? Everyone I know seemed to either laugh their ass off when they saw the pictures or just say it looked like shit.
It was improved in almost every area compared to PC version. Much better skin/face shader and eyes, the trees moved instead of being concrete, and slightly improved textures in some places, also, the amount of vegetation was raised. TressFX physics was more natural and the hair looked greasy and stringy instead of freshly shampooed. As for the new face, that's more a question of taste. It was more realistic but some people didn't like the change in eyebrow shape.
wont happen
it literally is. the morpheus reveal said it would get the last of us on PS4 with VR support.
oh fuck on the ps4 store it says its coming out Dec 25th 2014; that's tooooo long
oh fuck on the ps4 store it says its coming out Dec 25th 2014; that's tooooo long
It's just a placeholder date. The release window is Summer 2014.
Since they've probably been working on this for a while, they may be able to use the original assets before they got downscaled for the PS3 perhaps?
Did it really? Everyone I know seemed to either laugh their ass off when they saw the pictures or just say it looked like shit.
Tomb Raider Definitive was the first game I bought for the PS4, and I have to say, it looks damn good, and the 60fps makes it even more pleasing to look at. A horrible youtube quality comparison pic. Things I have noticed: - Huge improvement in AA, res and texture filtering - Improved shadowing. Check his hand, which now accurately makes a shadow on wall. Also, looks like they enabled self-shadowing in-game as his arm is casting a shadow on his backpack. - the ledge he's leaning on is smoothed out, maybe they went over the game and smoothed out blocky looking parts of the map? - shading seems softer and more natural. Possibly enabled GI and/or better AO - skin seems to have SSS, which on PS3 was only in cutscenes. His skin was grey looking in the shadowed area, now it has a warm reddish glow from sun filtering through the skin, and his hand looks soft and fleshy instead of wax-like. - Better grass, looks like new textures, the improvement on the grass is huge. Some kind of vine where the girl is leaning. They probably went through the level files and placed extra/better foliage and props. Well its awesome that this game is gonna be remastered and will have more features. Gonna waste my life again playing this game. Sadly it couldn't be for the PC. But anyway my PC would die when running this game because of the awesomeness. :v:

PS3
That just looks like someone put a postprocessing blur filter on, i think it looks worse. Like i am watching the picture underwater
but it's from a youtube video, don't judge yet.
