Taken out my window on saturday

Taken out the same window about 6-7 hours ago before I left today, the top of that hill was engulfed in fire before the smoke came in.
It was pretty damn terrifying, it happened so fast. Could barely see, it was hard to breathe with ash flying through the air. Its very possible the fire could enter my neighborhood. I'm just glad I got out.
Flagstaff fire 2 hours ago

Yeah, my buddy in foco says there's about an inch of ash on his car every morning.
Down here in Loveland the smoke gets bad from time to time. Make your eyes burn pretty good. :/
Here's some shots I took at work (In Windsor):

I live in Superior so the Flagstaff fire is the closest one to me. Doesn't make me any less nervous. Fires are fucking popping up every day now here...
I live in Fort Collins and everything looks like it's covered in fog when the wind blows our way. You can just taste the smoke in the air.
Absolutely nothing has been done about the beetle kill. There are few people that clean up the forests, and very little ground gets covered. Why do you think the state has been going up like a match stick? Millions of tons of dead vegetation just laying there.
Forest fires are the natural order. They return the nutrients to the soil and clean up the scraps. I'm sorry people are losing their homes, but it's a risk they take. And that is why they have insurance.
You do realize the nutrients go back into the earth thanks to fungi and insects?
So, anyone who's in Colorado Springs, I truly feel sorry for you. It isn't getting any better, and the smoke is beginning to get into Denver & suburbs now.
The air around here is decreasing in quality fairly quickly. Ugh.

Holy shit, I had no idea that the smoke was that dense.
I was evacuated at 4pm yesterday and didn't leave the neighborhood or smoke area for 3 hours. From recent footage there is a camera crew positioned about 1/4 of a mile south west of my house. I have more photos and videos than you van imagine, but I have no internet where I am now. I have to deal with cell web for now.
Are you dumb or something? There's people that maintain the forests so that you don't need the natural fires. Colorado doesn't need homes burned down.
Well he is right about the trees pine beetles have killed needing to be cleared out, but a fire isn't how you remove that shit.

As a matter of fact the sentiment of "we haven't been letting fires burn" is dumb, this is just bad circumstances gone catastrophic. I'll probably be donating some money to organizations sheltering evacuees.
Things are looking bad. It's a shame, but the state needs this. For decades, we've put out fires in early stages, preventing the natural order where old, dead vegetation is cleared away. And we're paying for it now.
But this state needs a big fire.

we dont need this at all, and I'm not just saying that because that large tan building is a church i drive by each day to work. which may not exist anymore. So thanks for thinking this is good.
I'm trying to remain optimistic, but its possible that my home and work will both go up on flames.
While we're all in here, we should have an fp meet-up. just sayin
On a more serious note, I wish there was something I could do to help

i'm sure you know my car isn't really in a working state right now :v:
Do like me, I'm gonna donate like $50 to some of the organizations sheltering evacuees
This is 6 miles from my grandparent's house :(

Where and how would I donate money to these organization?

Couple of phone numbers to call
I blame Stargate Command.
I feel for you Coloradans, over here in Nevada the NDF,BLM,and firefighters are shitting their pants. The sagebrush hasn't had been rained on in weeks and seeing as they dont let cattle graze is certain areas anymore.
Hope your guys get that under control.
It probably won't do much, but if anyone still has time to grab their things from their homes they can cut some holes on some water hoses and put them on the roofs. But this is really awful and I have some relatives evacuating right now and I really hope they are ok.
My cousin lives in Loveland, my aunt posted on Facebook about how there was a certain fire she couldn't see because there was another fire blocking the view. That's rather intimidating.
Looks like it really wants to go north east, which is bad be ause thats where my house us along with a few hundred fire fighters. But I just got rained on so there's still that chance.
It's supposed to rain next week also, so hopefully that helps supress the fire
If you are able to watch the local news, I am right on mount saint francis. North east of it, which is the way the wind is going. Thankfully, they are setting up firelines with bulldozers just west if there and if uts whete i think it is we will be contained so long as embers don't catch any other houses on fire.
Hopefully the rain might help kill the blaze
This is bad. Not much about it on English news though.
I hope everyone who's effected by this gets by okay
Seriously, it's quite scary to see a fire so big...
I drove this on the highway about a week or two ago. It was damn crazy. At first it looked like a little flare (i almost thought it was a cloud) that didn't go more than 20 feet in the air. Within a few minutes, it was a big plume. Within the next hour it looked like a goddamn nuclear bomb went off. There was a big orange center like something was blowing up, then around it a giant black mushroom cloud. It blocked out the damn sun. I took pictures... and then I lost my camera at the airport.
But yeah, a suit-guy came to my house a few days ago and said that he recommends evacuating. I'm probably going to leave within the next few days if it gets any bigger.

It only started Sunday. And they don't go door to door for evacuations as far as I know. Maybe for voluntary evacuation. What area are you located in?

I live in Arvada, but at the time I was right outside of Colorado Springs on my way to the airport. Right before I left, Agent K suggested that I prepare for evacuation procedures should they go into effect. I'm in Texas for the next week, though, so if my house goes up in flames I'll be alright.
Well shiet, I live about 10 miles from arvada
