Report: NASCAR driver Tony Stewart runs over competitor after altercation
He just killed a man, ofcourse he's not racing today.
Earlier click-bait sites were trying to make him out as a monster that intentionally killed him. So he'd have one less person to race against today or some shit.
This is why the rest of the world sneers at NASCAR. The drivers act like idiot children. Maybe a driver murdering another driver on the track (if that turns out to be the case) will spur a change in the dumb redneck-pandering culture of NASCAR...but I doubt it.
Also, how is there not like 12 angles of video?
It sounds like you have something really personal about the sport beyond this unfortunate incident.
For those that don't watch sprint car dirt racing, the reason that Tony swiveled after the hit is because Kevin impacted with the back right tire and completely changed the momentum of Tony's drifting.
people trying to defend the idiot running onto a track with cars that are going high speeds and dangerous as fuck on dirt.
wow.
shame someone has to live with having killed someone for the rest of their life because of the person being a complete fucking idiot.
Tony Stewart has such a shitty temper I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he killed him on purpose.
Stewart doesn't care about safety as much as he says. He's intentionally taken people out before, and he's commented before saying if they're going to block then he's going to spin them
I don't like NASCAR though, but that All-Star race they had not too long ago was actually pretty exciting. They didn't settle in for a long haul, they raced 20 lap shootouts multiple times, with pit stops between, which means they ran as hard as they run while qualifying on every lap. A lot more fun. I wish all NASCAR races were like that. A bit too much fanfare leading up to the race, too

Pretty sure the jackass who ran into a track of high performance race cars is at fault here. All because Tony is a hothead doesn't mean he's a murderer.

Stewart knew it was a caution flag and knew that the kid was wrecked. He didn't come flying around the corner and not see him.
If you look at the video, you can see that Stewart has neither the space nor reaction time to avoid him. His weight was already shifted from the slide, so trying to buckle inwards while there is somebody on the inside is nigh impossible to do, and I don't think there would have been any way for him to avoid colliding with him reliably. He's a dick for rushing him, but Ward was an ass for running into the middle of the track.

Yeah, regardless of the specifics there's no way hes driving today's race.
As sad as it is, you DON'T walk into a high speed race way, especially after crashing.
I don't like tony stewart much either, but come on caution laps mean the cars are still going 45-55 mph.

Tony did slam the throttle when he got close to him. Those cars they were driving slip to the right when you do it. Even if his intention was to just cover him in mud he made a reckless decision and costed someone their life. Even if it is an accident it's still murder and be should be kicked out of racing for good.

Oh my ass. It was a caution flag. They were not going fast at all so he had plenty of time to react. And you can clearly hear Tony hitting the throttle when he got close to Ward.
His weight was shifted from the slide which means that unless he hit the throttle he would have hit Ward anyway.
IIRC, The kinds of cars they were racing basically require you to accelerate to turn properly.
Not only that, it requires quite alot of it to break out of a slide. He was trying to avoid him, he just was shortsighted enough to try and rush him.
They weren't on the turn though.
They were exiting it. His entry speed was really fucking high which meant he saw the caution and ignored it, which is why he was still in a slide on the way out. Lastly, HIS WEIGHT WAS STILL SHIFTED FROM THE TURN. These cars are really bloody tall for a reason.

After re-watching the video a few times, it looks like the camera is on the opposite side of the track, making it nearly impossible to tell where that "acceleration" sound came from.
actual video of the incident. NSFW MAYBE???
it seems like its on purpose because tony stewart (#14) not only pushed kevin ward jr (#13) off the race track but ran over him in the next lap
That video looks so 90s

all i can say is that sprint car tracks usually arent very big

He was on the other side of the track, how is it even possible you can hear Tony's engine clearly when there is other cars passing on the close side?

Regardless, how would one be able to tell that Tony is accelerating when there are cars passing on the side where the whole thing is being recorded from?
all i can say is that sprint car tracks usually arent very big
No they aren't, but you have what? 20 or so other cars on the track? How do you distinguish one car revving from the others on the other side.
-snip automerge-
Heads up: the reuploaded youtube video is audio edited to make it sound like Tony accelerated right before he hit the kid. The liveleak video is not edited.
was just laying down some objective facts to work with!
i dont think we'll ever know who's more at fault here. all we can do is speculate

His intention clearly was to dodge the other driver. Should this be the end of his career? Perhaps, but this was clearly an accident and the other driver was at fault for crossing the track with HIGH SPEED VEHICLES heading towards him. You are aware the Youtube video was edited to make it sound like he accelerated , right? The original cut doesn't.

Even if it is edited, the noise doesn't really incriminate him at all due to the fact he was exiting a slide, and him accelerating was likely the reason it was a clip rather then a full collision.
If you crash in Nascar you WAIT for a rescue crew, not play frogger. Lets say didn't get hit by Tony, someone else could have hit him, or he could have caused a several car wreck and killed more people.

You keep using the excuse they're high speed vehicles but fail to acknowledge there was a caution flag and they have to go slowly.

I do indeed acknowledge that, and if the other guy stayed in his vehicle and waited of a rescue crew instead of playing frogger and not only risking his life, but every driver on that track he would still be alive. ANYONE could have hit him. Tony clearly tried to dodge him, if he slammed on his breaks any amount of cars behind him would have slammed into him, and the idiot on the track could have still got hit, injuring and or killing other drivers in the process.
Besides that the accident just happened, clearly not one had time to slow down all the way yet.
You keep using the excuse they're high speed vehicles but fail to acknowledge there was a caution flag and they have to go slowly.
It's probably complicated to look at a caution flag when an accident just occurred and you're paying attention to it and suddenly a guy runs into the track, just saying.

Yes Stewart was an ass for ignoring the flag but so did other cars. Its a result of stupid from all sides but I definitely wouldn't call this tragic accident an intentional murder.
