I've never heard of anyone wrapping their arms or fingers around the rope in tug of war. Then again at my school we only did it twice I think so maybe we just did it wrong.
They probably had their fingers like that, and I'm guessing they other team did one of those "1, 2, 3, PULL!" kind of things where they all pull together. They probably pulled the rope taut, taking the fingers with it.
Do some of you people not read? The fingers were lost when the rope snapped weird shit happens when tug of war ropes break e.g. losing arms
Unfortunately the rope broke
Too much powah! JK usually when my school does this they use an over-the-top-ly large rope like the two-inch diameter ones on ships just so this doesn't happen
...I....I-I Don't feel like playing Tug-of-War ever again... for some reason...
My guess is they pulled some shit like this:
How in the world would you do that with a rope strong enough to hold FORTY people?
Eugh, I cringed.
Do some of you people not read? The fingers were lost when the rope snapped weird shit happens when tug of war ropes break e.g. losing arms
It wasn't put in the OP, so naturally no one read it.
Just hold the rope, don't wrap it around anything. If there have been reports of people loosing hands in tug of war with huge amounts of people.
It wasn't put in the OP, so naturally no one read it.
Well that was an A++ rule.
Guess which high school never gets to play Tug-of-War again
......so why did A: they let the kids hold it wrong and B: put so many in one tug-of-war at once? I've seen the video. I'm not linking it for very obvious reasons, though.
Link that shit, yo [editline]5th February 2013[/editline]
Guess which high school never gets to play Tug-of-War again
All of them
Link that shit, yo
are you stupid, he can't link it because you can't link to gore on FP
Guess which high school never gets to play Tug-of-War again
The ones where all the kids have no hands.
are you stupid, he can't link it because you can't link to gore on FP
He can link it in my inbox! I haven't even heard of whole arms coming off in Tug of War before
He can link it in my inbox! I haven't even heard of whole arms coming off in Tug of War before
just fucking google "snopes tug of war arms" [editline]6th February 2013[/editline] also by the way if you're all curious as to how this happened, more than likely the rope snapped and the boy and girl were on opposite teams on both ends of the rope. if you're wondering how this much force could be applied, just imagine a whip cracking. if the tip of a whip is enough to cause lacerations, then a snapping rope with way too much force being applied on it does the same shit but on a bigger scale ripped off wikipedia:
Most amateur organizers of tug of wars underestimate the forces generated, overestimate the breaking strength of common ropes, and are unaware of the possible consequences if a rope parts in peoples' hands under tons of tension. The broken ends of an elastic polymer such as common nylon reach high speeds and will easily sever fingers. For example, ordinary half-inch nylon rope, about the heaviest hardware stores sell, has a safe working load rating of between 500 and 600 pounds, and an adult male can probably exert a pull of 100 pounds, which means that it is only safe to use this rope with a limit of five to six men per side.
Oh snap!
Tug-of-war has been banned in our district for years now because we kept snapping the ancient-ass rope and people feared possible injuries instead of buying the schools new fucking rope.
just fucking google "snopes tug of war arms"
Second image too btw.
The guy's arm gets ripped off fifteen feet from the camera. The arm lands a good 20 feet from its owner with a large red patch on the grass between the two. It's a huge mess. A literal bloodbath. I'm risking getting banned for gore just mentioning it, posting it would be a guaranteed gore ban. It's not figuratively getting ripped off. It's literally getting ripped off. As for why I've seen it? I've always had a morbid curiosity, and I can at will completely shut that part of my brain that freaks out and panics when presented with gore off. Someone's arm getting ripped off is safe for work somewhere?!
I prefer the one where they tie a guy's arms to a truck and a wall and drive off.
I prefer the one where they tie a guy's arms to a truck and a wall and drive off.
Go post on theYNC about it, then.
All the cool kids on the end of the rope wrap it around their hips and crouch as low as possible tru fact

A durable rope doing the same is easily able to cut through skin and break bones. (Probably even worse, ropes are quite strong)
Our school never had tug of war to begin with. It's too 'unsafe'.
