Samsung Galaxy S3 might support wireless charging, from a distance of 1-2 meters
Somehow I think I'd favor battery life over features. Imagine being able to do anything on your phone without having to worry about what's using battery. You could have the brightness on full to show the screens full glory, you wouldn't need to turn wifi or gps or whatever on and off, you could play 3d games instead of 2d ones etc etc
Uh all those things you're claiming you can use more frequently "if they didn't focus on features" have a name. They're called features.
Well by "focusing on features" I assumed he meant stuff that didn't exist on other smartphones, stuff like 3d screens or NFC. You'd obviously still have the normal smartphone features even of the company didn't focus on features
How do they send the electric through the air.
Why invent something so odd.
Why?
Because it's fucking awesome.
The concept behind wireless charging is magnetic coupling, and it's everywhere.
The downside is its inherent inefficiency. So I don't get why everybody is going gaga over it.

I don't think they've invented anything, inductance based chargers have been on the market for a while, and we've known how this works since the 1830s (How do you guys think radios function?)
Oh man, I can charge my phone while it's sat on my desk, instead of plugging it in AT my desk..

So, what's up with the cat?
Induction, aka wireless power isn't as unusual as most think.
If you have an electric toothbrush, study its charger. You put the toothbrush on a plastic bit, and it charges, but plastic doesn't conduct electricity.
The plastic is there to protect the charger and the toothbrush from short circuiting due to water, so instead the electricity is sent through the plastic wirelessly! :eng101:
First thought when i read the article:
