i agree with your sentiment but you simply should have posted that instead of trying to use people's ages as a surrogate argument
Was lazy :v:
Besides, don't tell me age is totally irrelevant here.

I don't know what kind of a fucking garden shed you live in, but when I close my front door it automatically locks itself when I close it.
Your argument is that you should be able to kill people even if they don't pose an immediate threat, just because. There's not much you can say about that.
What would you do if someone kicks your door down in the middle of the night? Give him a cup of coffee and order a pizza?
If he's homeless, that doesn't explain how he could call 911 from the bathroom.
Telephone in bathroom, duh.
What about the British Guy who lost his house to Squatters because he went on vacation for a week?
Or the British Guy who had to take down his spiked fence because "it might hurt burglars".
We're not the only one with ridiculous laws.
Swatters rights barely exist in English law anymore it was just bad luck that his house got broken during that one week.
Second one was because instead of putting up a sign saying "spiked fence danger" the owner decided to run off to the right wing press so they could blow it out of proportion. And no he didn't have to take it down at all.

Sometimes I really have to wonder if you guys are no older than 12 years-old. It isn't either "get on your knees and sick the intruder's dick" or "SHOOT 'EM IN THE HEAD." Grow the fuck up!
My grandfather was one of the first to own a TV in Ireland back in the 60's as he owned a company that imported them.
The TV, my grandfathers pride and joy, was stolen by an infamous burglar, the "cat burglar" was perfectly suited for this burglar as he was known for his love of milk, so he'd break into your house and drink all your milk, then jack your valuables.
Why the hell did he break into a house to take a shower?
That's not a strange as a hobo breaking into your house to take a shit on your porch.
You mean this? That was in the UK

oh oops that would be the wrong news article

That really doesn't answer the question.
You can go take a shower at one of the local pools for like a dollar.
That really doesn't answer the question.
Your question was obviously rhetorical, so I don't know why you're looking for an actual answer.

My neighbor came home in the middle of the night to find 3 guys burglarizing his house. What happened, you ask? Well, the next morning someone saw his door was open, went to check on him and found him with his neck sliced open in the living room.

Cool story. I don't see what it has to do with my post.
You're right. A gun should never be discharged unless it is in self-defense. As Timebomb said, somebody kicking down your door is not a justifiable reason to discharge your gun.
How is the extremely violent act of kicking in a door not showing a clear threat to my life?
I don't know what kind of a fucking garden shed you live in, but when I close my front door it automatically locks itself when I close it.
That's stupid. In the summer I'm back and forth through my back door all day long, I don't want to have to unlock the thing 80 times.
Most doors have a thing on the inside that you turn to lock it, plus a deadbolt if you're paranoid.
How is the extremely violent act of kicking in a door not showing a clear threat to my life?
It's showing a threat to your door.
How is the extremely violent act of kicking in a door not showing a clear threat to my life?
It's a violent act towards your property, not you. Threatening your property is not enough to justify taking their life. If you see a guy coming at you with a knife or gun by all means defend yourself, but if they're coming at your door with a shoe? Yeah no.
It's showing a threat to your door.
And if they are willing to kick in the front door, it shows they are willing to kick in my head, since most non-violent robbers simply cut a window screen and lift open a window, or look for a unlocked door

Kind of a stretch man. Most robbers just want to get in the house quickly instead of spending a lot of time outside looking for an unlocked window. A guy skulking around is going to draw more attention from the neighbours than a quick thud noise.

My Canadian friend, what kind of criminal kicks in a front door if they aren't also going to beat the shit out of anyone they encounter inside?
The only two people who kick in front doors are ether SWAT or Home Invaders
And last time I checked, SWAT has the courtesy to announce their selves beforehand

Yes but breaking a window to gain entry is way further down the violence scale than kicking open a front door which may or may not have a dead bolt, fucking up the entire door frame, also it's quieter
Also Neighbors don't give a fuck anymore these days

Home invaders aren't necessarily violent. Home invasion simply refers to unlawfully entering an occupied dwelling, does it not?

Assuming this isn't the middle of the day, or during holidays when few people are at home.

i don't know i don't have the same weird conceptions of criminals as you. I'd think if someone were trying to kill me they'd not loudly announce their presence and do what the nonviolent criminals do instead

So violently kicking in a solid wood door is nonviolent?
uhh read my post again i don't think you got it
Ah, indeed. I apologize.
However, my point that violently kicking in a door is violent stands.
Home invaders aren't necessarily violent. Home invasion simply refers to unlawfully entering an occupied dwelling, does it not?
Yes, but I've heard one too many home invasion horror stories to allow someone kicking in my door to leave walking if they don't disappear before I can level my gun sight on them
that's like someone trying to rob a supermarket and before he leaves with the chicken under his coat he calls the police because he thinks that the alarm detector will cut his head off
fucking stupid idiot didn't have the balls it takes to break into a house to begin with
well i don't want the blood of anyone on my hands unless it's necessary so I'm going to need something a little more convincing than "he was mean to my door" to act

You're just being naive if you think think after breaking a solid wood door and a deadbolt lock they aren't capable of and willing to fuck you up as well
Most non-violent criminals pick windows or unlocked doors instead

Yes, because murder won't add much jailtime on top of trespassing and theft.

[sp]Not saying that it doesn't mean they won't, just saying it's not a guaranteed sign or even close to guaranteed sign (probably depends on country and region much though, so it's kinda a moot point)[/sp]
