Neogaf dying wouldn't be so bad.
They called the Episodic idea a mistake a long, long time ago.
They said they wouldn't be continuing it after episode 3.
They said they wouldn't be continuing it after episode 3.
I think they later effectively cancelled Episode 3, though.
My guess is it won't be on regular consoles, just Windows/Linux/Steambox. Sort of a console exclusive for steam's console but still available to Valve's 'Traditional' audience.
If I had to put money on it, I'd say it'll be PC-exclusive. There's a slim chance of PS-whatever support, but that is really slim at this point considering the whole crossplay thing sort of crumbled.
I'm confused as for why they would have to file for a trademark on a name which includes another already trademarked part. It's pretty obvious valve already owns the trademark for Half-life.
maybe they just did it because of the reactions it would create for example this thread.
They called the Episodic idea a mistake a long, long time ago.
That was the Episodic model of development, though. It just means they next game won't be developed as an episode, so it won't be a short game that they can make quicker than normal. Half life 3 doesn't make sense when it is still part of the Half life 2 story arc. Calling the next game Half life 3 would be like if Blue shift or Opposing force had been named Half life 2 instead. As long as the next game continues with the Half life 2 story, they will call it Episode 3, or something with Half life 2 in the name. They will continue with how have named the previous games in the series. Half life 3 will be for a completely new story with a different setting.
There is no good reason to think the game will be called Half life 3. The main reason for people thinking it will be called Half life 3 is because it has to be a full game now because of how long it is has been in development, but that isn't really a good reason. The name of the game does not determines the content or how long it is.
Side though: they could just be reserving it to stop trolls from screwing with it :P
If they are going to release HL3 at all, it will be in either 2017 or 18. 10 years since EP2 and 20 since HL.
I think we will see the Eagles win a super bowl before we see Half Life 3.
I want to Yes but I know the No is Yes
how about you guys just wait patiently for an announcement
if there ever is one

Nah it'll be Half-Life 3
I'm looking at the procedure to apply for a trade mark. Apparently the fact that it has a "filing date" means that, among other things, the application fee of 900-1050 EUR has already been paid. Additionally, under the "status of trade mark" it says some formalities have been examinated which as far as I understand means that some basic verification(on names and such) has been completed.
I think this might mean it's at least not a fake...?
They called the Episodic idea a mistake a long, long time ago.
Yes, but you may as well call it Half-Life 2: Episode 3 since it's still going to be part of the same story arc.
What if anyone who gets to beta-test the Steam Machines also get to beta-test HL3 as it will be the launch title

I think people generally just call it half life 3 for simplicity's sake. No one knows what it'll be called anyway but we are all talking about the same game.
Laughing at all of the chumps that said it wasn't going to be out for years to come.
I'm pretty sure trademarking the name of the game you're making is like the first thing you do, so there may still be years to wait.
Laughing at all of the chumps that said it wasn't going to be out for years to come.
"Hahaha, the game is coming out anyways! You'll sure feel silly when you're playing it after all these years."
Everyone can file a trademark under anyone else's name for free (still fraud though). See the whole WoW expansion thing from a while back. This might just be a troll.
And seeing this a sequel too you don't really need to file a new trademark.
If it is a fake, they bothered to look up a real European trademark attorney and provide their information.
