Vogue magazine editors pledge to use 'healthy' models - Polidicks

Sorry if this has already been mentioned but it's important in relation to why models are as skinny as they are. The reason the fashion industry uses skinny models is two fold. One it's easy to fit sizes when all the models are generally the same size. Two the entire purpose of Fashion is clothing, not the models who are wearing the clothing. The models are literally just supposed to be walking clothes hangers to display the clothing. I'd also like to point out this is the general proportions for a person used for sketching and rendering clothing. Continuing from where I was last in this thread, since when does not getting into an issue when a related topic is brought up mean you don't have a problem with the issue? What did i ever say to suggest I don't care about womens health? People just post what their preferences regarding what they find attractive and you label them as misogynists?

This is a typical internet argument: Everyone aggressively defends their own point while absolutely refusing to compromise or, failing that, just shutting up and dropping the subject. It's such a petty thing to argue over because it doesn't even really matter. People judge and admire other people based on physical characteristics, among other things. This happens everywhere, from modelling to sports to bodybuilder competitions. I can understand if the pervasive view was that women were only to be judged on physical appearance, but I don't think anyone judging those women really think that. Someone posted that picture basically to say "fat is beautiful", and other people either agreed with it or disagreed. Would you rather have a society where no one can see each other or judge each other?
