so uh america, pretty stressed out right now aren't you
Nah man! W-we're good...w-..SALLY TURN OFF THE DAMN LIGHTS, WE CAN'T AFFORD THAT DAMNIT! Its fucking freezing in here, damn oil prices.
It's not like no one else should be taxed, i agree with a progressive tax rate, that's what i'm arguing. The rich get a progressively higher tax bracket because they don't need/notice/care about the money if they aren't like corrupt businessmen who simply buy the senate/congress.
These tax breaks are HUGE reductions on taxes to the rich and above because people still think trickle down economics works out side of the military industrial complex(Not even there really).
de-fense de-fense (cut it)
Which was originally Bush's idea(sort of), and actually helped the economy out. Yeah, bad spending there.
Well, more like Bush did the same thing and Republicans praised it, Obama does it and you fuckers climb out of the walls to scream bloody fucking murder. I see no reason you should be listened to.(not you in particular, just people with these view points.)
It's not a new president that's gonna save a sinking country.
There's no turning back when your this deep.
Broaden the tax means what exactly then if not "tax more people(but not the rich)". Sure, it's unethical to ask for pay back for what society has granted the ultra rich, right? Safety, security, the chance to even MAKE that fucking money. Of course, they don't owe society.
To the second point, I can't say for sure, but I do believe so?
Oh but they do owe society, but they also owe their employees their wages too. Now lets look at things this way. Currently the argument is to tax the rich more with the lowest amount for qualifying as rich being around $250,000. The argument is that by Taxing the Rich, the poor and middle class benefit. the Haves VS. the Have Nots. Problem is that the government is not Robin Hood and not everybody gets better off because they're given money. There are those who game they system or lack motivation to get a job and make their own money when they are given money, and it's unfortunate the the US allows it to happen
Plus each "class" can be broken into groups.
For example the Rich can be divided into the Ultra Rich, and the low Rich. The middle Class into the High Middle class, the average middle class, and the low middle class. while the poor can be divided into struggling to make ends meet (high poor), and Flat out broke and homeless. Unlike the classic Class system, In the US, we are suppose to be able to move around these classes. A person who gets the right idea can go from "struggling to make ends meet" to Rich.
Now Small business usually exist around the high middle to low Rich area (thank to how rich is currently defined) and this can mainly be due to operating costs, building rent, and supplies. Let's take Toy Box and Treasures for example. The guy who owns the place has to pay at least $300 a day just to open the store, and I have no idea how much it costs to service all the Game systems and Air soft guns he gets in, considering most of the video game stuff is second hand and old.(Like Intellavision, Atari, and NES old). Now for a while he had 2 locations going. If both cost $300 a day to run, he'd almost have to be considered part of the rich just to be able to afford to run the store, pay his employees, and still have enough to pay his own living costs and have some sort of disposable cash left over.
Now if his taxes were to go up because he was considered rich, not Ultrarich, he would likely be unable to afford to stay in business.
Wait, aren't you suposed to have as high debts as possible?
Like in golf? I remember someone telling me it was like golf

In golf, the person with the lowest score wins. :colbert:
So in REAL life it's supposed to be like golf.

This was really one of my concerns about the whole "extra taxes for the rich because they're rich" thing. Contrary to popular belief, the rich aren't all little men in top hats sitting on huge piles of gold which they got out of nowhere with nothing to do but spend it. Rather, many people who have enough cash to be classified as "rich" have to work damn hard for it, and must constantly work to maintain the position. Nor, as Glaber put it, is this money all disposable income for the man himself - a lot of it may be invested in business, as how many people become "rich", and this business may rely on having that money available. When you throw on extra taxes to get that wealth BECAUSE of that wealth, everything collapses, and that's not a viable outcome. I'm all for fairness, and a proportional tax system which ultimately fits everyone, but I'm not for extra-wealth taxes based on simple logic and a righteous moral outrage.
HumanAbyss is nailing the nail hard.

That's defeatist and historically unfounded. What's so infuriating about this website is how views are posted like this without even a bit of explanation so often that people are get to the point that they just sort of except it as true.
Guys I got a brilliant idea about all this debt. Let's cut taxes to the rich, so that they can spend more money that might eventually get to the poor! Because this totally make sense!
seriously how do your politicians manage to be so retarded, it's like there's something in the water or something
I want the dollar to collapse already.
They'll never cut defense, they just won't. There will always be an excuse to keep it inflated, starting with Reagan, WHAT A FUCKING TRAGEDY.
I joke around when I say "move to Canada." But I just realized that my parents had already applied me for citizenship when I was younger, and I can actually be a citizen by 2014, right after college.
The US is a sinking ship, end of story. Take what you can, and run elsewhere. People don't migrate to a country for its "values" they migrate for a good life, meaning, good pay and good environment. I realize when people are stuck in a country because they are natives or because no other country wants their lazy ass, they start pulling shit out of their ass on how original and great their country is. No. America WAS a decent place, but not anymore. Heavy Metal is more predominent in Europe, so they lost the music scene. Technology and innovation is all over East Asia; most "technological entrepreneurs" in America are just sissies making new iPhone apps. They still have films, but there are better international films being made now to put these to shame day by day. There is little artistic quality in US films now, it is mostly just bullshit marketing and regurgitation of the same pointles comedy shit. It may have a leg up on TV, but 1/2 of them are from their British counterparts. Not only that, but you don't have as much fear-mongering political BS and xenophobia in Canada like in the US. Sure, it is inevitable in any nation, but my relatives in Canada don't seem to see a problem there when it comes to nativism. Sure Canada produced Bieber, but I can live with that. He's more prominent within the US, so I don't really see the problem. And its deficit is like 800 billion and declining.
Oh yeah, and they have government healthcare, not the BS shit Obama gave us thatthe republicans fucked up.
Yeah, start planning to study abroad. Let the fat cow die and let the third world nations feed off its fat.

Waah I don't like the music and movies here and fail to recognize that the top tech companies who make the greatest advancements are still based in the US or rely on the US region more than anywhere else in the world also I like to condense complex political systems into a one sentence summary of my opinion of them waaaaaah

I don't trust a source that calls the healthcare reform "obamacare" and an article with the description "The vanity of Barack Obama". It is obviously unreliable for anything factual.
