A child who needs to work to survive is a child who needs to be cared for until they reach an age they are able to be self sufficient, i.e: after appropriate schooling
That's not the reality in poor countries. Schooling isn't a possibility. Most of these kids barely get anything to eat in a day, do you really think they are going to be able to get schooling? Child labor is popular in these countries because it is necessary as a means of survival. You could maybe make the schooling point if it was in a more modern country like the US, but it is nonsensical when talking about many African countries. If you watch anything about these countries survival is the primary issue facing children.
To make the situation real clear, these children need to work to survive. Taking away that mean means they starve or turn to drug dealing or prostitution. This is shown quite well in studies done by UNICEF and other organizations. It is quite naive and dangerous to think the solution is simple as banning it. Education is not even a sensible idea when the primary issue is starvation.
I always wanted a job as a child but got mad because it was apparently illegal. I'd always argue in my head that it was legal since I wanted a job but never actually tried to get one.
