If the US went to war with China they'd have to be suicidal, they're in a great deal of debt to China, never mind the fact that China is easily one of the biggest manufacturing nations in the world.
We both rely on each other an equal amount, if we went to war. It would be absolutely devastating for both countries.

China would do what Russia did and just throw all their poor people at the enemy and make them waste their ammo.

not really.
China stops selling stuff to the US. US Domestic manufacturing revitalizes, more jobs, massive economic boom. Or we find somewhere else to buy stuff.
US stops buying stuff from China. Chinese economy takes massive hit, possibly collapses, massive depression. US lol's.
And I know the first thing everyone will say: "oh but they own US debt blah blah blah". No, they own mostly US currency, just as I own Euros. Their actual DEBT holdings is like 4%, more than 50% of US debt is held by private citizens in things like medicare obligations in the future and some treasury bonds (whcih helps the economy).
Furthermore, we should learn from the massive debt France held of Germany's in the 30s. That was not exactly repaid with interest.
If the US stopped trading with China, it would actually massively benefit the US while undercutting the PRC brutally. We could dump them with as much debt as we wanted, they really wouldn't have a choice.

oh ok so let's just stop trading with china and somehow magically move all manufacturing to american workers. because that will fix the economy, right? So why haven't we done it earlier! Let's just throw away all free trade, become protectionist, and throw away any reliance we ever had on other nations, because y'know, the USA will be able to instantly become the manufacturing centre of the world in complete and utter autarky.
