That's assuming the new, correct part is still being produced 50 years later.
Then you just get the part custom made somewhere else using the original specifications. That's why old planes are expensive as hell to maintain.
Everything wears down over time, no matter how well you maintain it. MANY DUMBS LATER: Alright, my mistake. But having to much pride of accept that I am wrong, I ask you this, sir; do atoms not decay? Within eight hundred billion billion years, will the plane not have worn down?
I think the definition of the word maintenance may have gone over your head.
AK-47s are more than sixty years old, and they work fine. The design of the plane is from the 40s. The parts are just as new as with any other plane.
thirds time the charm right?
Yeah, jet engines.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messerschmitt_Me_262 "The Messerschmitt Me 262 Schwalbe ("Swallow") was the world's first operational jet-powered fighter aircraft. Design work started before World War II began"
Yeah, jet engines.
actually most stunt planes are still propeller-driven. lerp
Oh god not another one!
Wondering if I'll be the last generation to see these babies still flying :/ heart goes out to the families that have lost someone at airshows recently :9
