I don't think that kind of rocket would blow the whole building down like it looked like it did. EDIT: Nvm re watched it. But a lot more came off the building then I would expect.
Yeah. When they were staying still while prone, it looked like he was pivoting around on his left elbow.
Goddamn that animation is gorgeous
Game still looks pretty crap FROM WHAT HAS BEEN SEEN SO FAR. The quick cover fire/rocket hipfire was pretty cool, but it didn't look fun. They need to release some MP footage, so I can see if this game has any enjoyability at all. [editline]16th March 2011[/editline] Oh, and that's one of the worst crawling animations ever. If I saw someone crawl and sprint like in this game, I'd laugh so damn hard.
hip firing at4 all day erryday slow motion point at target boom boom SP is gonna be like MoH, MP is gonna be like MoH/CoD on steroids with jets, helicopters, tanks, humvees..
Have you even played the Battlefield series? They never changed it to be like anything other than their own game. They aren't going to pull a Crysis 2 or Homefront MP with killstreaks and that bullshit, the Battlefield series is known almost completely for their incredible multiplayer experience.

Looks like a lot of fun though.
That's a really shitty sniper.
Nothing really good yet in my opinion, I don't see why everyone's getting so excited over some scripted events. Would be better off if they showed us some Multiplayer first, that would be something to be excited about.
When DICE showcases multiplayer it is always acting. You don't get that level of teamwork in a real BATTLEFIELD gameplay environment.
If I had to pick one thing DICE is best at it would be sound design. The sound in Mirror's Edge, BC2, MoH, and this are like sex, and it's worth it just to run through Arica Harbour and masturbate to the glorious sounds of the battlefield.
Fuck yes.

It's so immersive.
I really want to see that multiplayer. Single player looks cool though.
I wish they'd stop bullshitting us about their engine being hard to work with and say they're releasing mod tools, else this game will die off in a few years like BF2 didn't (because of mods...)
keep in mind people the sniper isn't a military trained one he's probably just some guy that used to shoot pigs and such before becoming Taliban whatever the fuck terrorist organization they are
Wow, you know I was all ready to write of BF3's single player, but that actually looks pretty entertaining. As was mentioned earlier in the thread, it looks like they may have a good idea of how to pace things. Pacing is extremely important in an FPS.
keep in mind people the sniper isn't a military trained one he's probably just some guy that used to shoot pigs and such before becoming Taliban whatever the fuck terrorist organization they are
"Opposing Force" because otherwise bitches gonna bitch, just like in Medal of Honour. I don't give a fuck if it's spelt like that, it's wrong.
The sudden cut at the end to "BATTLEFIELD 3" followed by the theme tune ALWAYS puts a massive smile on my face.
I'm the opposite. As much as I LOOOOOVE BF, I hate that, it looks and sounds really cheesy and cliche.
Someone just tell me what to buy to run this baby at 60. Money is no object.

the gun feels a bit detached when he crawls

Deal with it.
-snip-
The GDC demo was run on a single 580.
Seems a bit overkill considering the game is just as fast as BC2, but looks so much better.
I hope a 470 will be sufficient!
This looks better and better everyday!
I hope a 470 will be sufficient!
The general rule of thumb is, if you can play BC2 at a decent FPS maxed out, you should be able to play BF3 at the same settings with almost the same framerate. All the new tech they've added (basically the only thing "costly" is the global illumination) doesn't eat FPS because of how it works, it's got almost nothing to do with real radiosity other than the fact it "scatters" light. You'd probably loose about 2 fps from having it enabled in a really complex scene, and gain about 500% lighting quality. Deferred shading makes everything faster because it only renders lighting once, instead of once per light per object. The only downside is that with DX9 you can't access the individual samples (such as world space normals, diffuse and depth) in the lighting MRT so there's no way to do AA feasibly.
I can't wait for this game. I'm going to need a new computer for it as well, well worth it imo.
