This...ugh (not directing at you or your company, just in general). All I've been finding are jobs with mountains of requirements. I will admit I try to stay away from customer facing positions, but "mastery of the following 12 programming languages" paired with "must have 4 years experience" is ridiculous for an ENTRY LEVEL position. It'd also be nice to get a response to an application. At this point, I'd be happy just to get an automated email with terrible grammar...
It is quite a shame, especially with many overqualified people unable to find jobs elsewhere. In the cubicle next to me is a civil engineer who graduated with high honors for Georgia Tech. There is another who majored in biochemistry. I work for Subway Restaurants... Anyway, good luck with your job search.
What. I'm sorry I must have read that wrong, for a second I thought you were calling the unemployed greedy... oh wait you are. How does that make any sense, what-so-ever. You are seriously calling people who have families to support greedy? Average people who need to pay to get through college? Average people who have medical bills to pay? They're greedy? I'm sorry, but the big wigs and their elite team of dick twirlers and rocket hookers are the ones who are fucking greedy.
So you're saying the company should keep them and have them stand around doing nothing because they need a job? That's not how it works. A job is not a right. If a company does not need you anymore then they have every right to let you go. In the case where a business has more employees than it needs to operate, then they're going to fire people.
Funny part is also about my store is we've been hiring for months now, Literally you apply you have a 99.99% chance of being hired. The only way you wouldn't if you said you couldn't work more then like 10 hours a week.
Sounds like greed to me. How dare those companies not hire so they won't go out of business I should have a job no matter what!!!!!! FUCK DA BIG MAN Sounds like a typical child's thinking. I don't care if you knee deep in debt, you learn to deal with shit since day one. What makes this different.
Except that a lot of these companies aren't exactly on the verge of going out of business, and are making record profits.
Why is making losses greed? If you owned a store and you lost some customers, you would not be able to run unless you laid off some employees. If anything the employees are greedy, wanting jobs they can't have.
You're missing the point, when you get hired and are told you will get so many hours a week. You're use to getting that many hours a week and need that paycheck to pay bills. My hours get cut so my GM can save his bonus. You have the most stupid logic, why is wanting to work and earn a living greedy? God forbid i want to support myself, keep a roof over my head and live a relatively comfortable life.
If anything the employees are greedy, wanting jobs they can't have.
Oh, fuck, I didn't realize trying to afford somewhere to live and to be able to eat was greedy. I'm so fucking sorry. I'll quit right now to make sure I'm not inconveniencing the multi-billion dollar company I work for with a CEO that gets paid 500x what I do to fire my friends. God I'm so terrible. I'm just fucking terrible. How dare I want a job.
Good thing that I had a job interview today, which is still 2011 so I win even though 2012 is a couple days away :v:

Just put yourself in their shoes. Companies think like "how can I make more money today", not "how can I oppress the worker simply because I enjoy suffering more than money"
My company was hiring all of this year, but there aren't enough qualified people.
Same here, I always read articles like this one while my company is offering us money to FIND unemployed qualified people. But I guess qualified is the key word there and most people weren't wise enough to decide on a career with great job opportunities which is strange because education is practically free in Austria.
Rated optimistic for small businesses.
