Rupert Murdhoc is the chairman for the largest media corp in Australia (His father founded it)
he's also the current CEO of Fox News as a side fact
You could say he has a lot of control over the media
yep, he's ruined our politics too.
This title hurts me.
Just because x weather is occurring at place y does not mean that climate change is z.
Anyone who uses local weather in reference to climate change comes across at best as misinformed and at best pandering to some group.
For the record, I firmly believe climate change is real, a serious threat to social stability in the near (my or my children's lifetime) term globally, and is strongly related to human activities.

Saying that climate change is real by standing outside and sweating is no different from saying it isn't real by making a snowball.
read the article boys
The heatwave is officially over, but the reality of Australian summers getting hotter is much more serious and far-reaching than a few more hot days each year. Almost every Australian capital city experienced higher-than-average temperatures in January; in Sydney and Brisbane, it was the hottest month on record. That scorching January came after 2016 was the country’s fourth-hottest year on record – a year that, in turn, followed on from 2013, the hottest year the country has ever recorded.
Do people have to start frying on the sidewalk after stepping out of doors before one acknowledges shit is getting more serious? Those buffoons prancing around with a lump of coal are one symptom in a long list of problems leading up to what we're facing now. Not to mention how fucking effective misinformation about climate change proved if people still doubt it exists after thousands of researchers proving otherwise. But hey, as long as big coal and oil get more money out of raping, plundering, and destroying the environment, not considering they care since they'll be dead anyway, it doesn't matter one whit to them if the entire ozone layer blew off into space.

Did he play a huge part in brexit?
Man, this is the thing that always bothered me about Australia, the general political apathy. No one really cares who's in power anymore, people care more about getting their democracy sausage than they do about who runs the country.
We're also basically nothing on the global scale.
Sure our politicians are fucking retarded but there's also only about two cities worth of people in all of australia.
Australia can be retarded all day but it's the powerhouses like america and china that are going to put us under.

I don't necessarily think this is true with a lot of people. I think it's just generally a common thing in Australia to appear apathetic but a lot of people I've talked to especially around election time that I would have never guessed were particularly political actually are extremely political but keep their opinions to themselves or their close friends.

A bit off-topic but did the debate moderator there seems to have a clear bias towards Brian Cox? I mean, I absolutely believe in man-made climate change and the person arguing against Cox was an idiot but having a formal debate with the moderator clearly on one side of the issue just seems wrong.

Put it this way you're not going to have a moderator without their own personal biases. Even the guys who seem unbiased may be exercising an unconscious bias towards the side which they agree with. And in any case to have a formal debate with somebody, both sides are supposed to be reasonable. If the other guy was being a knob, or just stupid in general, that's on him and not conducive to a proper debate. He might've thought he could get away with stating his opinions and not giving validatable proof or clear arguments about why he thinks climate change doesn't exist, either.
To sum up, debates are not a place to air your opinion unless you can back it up or at least try defending it in a somewhat coherent manner.

It's fine. Everything is fine.

When your main argument is "Everyone in the world is colluding to lie to the public for money, despite the fact these are not the people making money from this", you're not going to have a moderator on your side.
A moderator tries to be unbiased. Trying to be unbiased means exceptional, and unreasonable claims are going to be called out.
