The kid gets punished for getting shit about it, while the kids seem to have got, at the most, a slap on the wrist by the police.
What the fuck. I'd expect this shit to come from here, more than Britain.
I don't get it what's with the red hair bullying thing. Never even heard of it in Germany, but thanks to the internet... I still don't get what's up with the "gingers have no soul" stuff.
Aren't many shades of red hair considered exotic and attractive? Like green eyes?

seems to be a phenomenon mostly associated with Britain and England. though it happens a little in Australia apparently it is a big fucking deal over in those countries.
As for it being considered attractive, redheaded ladies are fuckin' awesome.
I would prefer them doing SOMETHING over nothing at all. Still though, it should be the other way around. Taking the bullies out of class and putting them somewhere they won't impede upon others wanting a good education. Fucking hate bullies.
kid needs to man up,
Iv got ginger hair and yeah I got the usual shitty insults all through my school life, but most of them were so unimaginative, such as basically "lol ginger", that I just laughed and shrugged it off. Plus I had a good circle of mates.
At the end of the day its just a hair colour... and if you show bullys that it gets to you and they will just keep doing it.
edit: fucking stupid for the school to disrupt his learning by pulling him from classes though.
did you even read the part where it says he constantly got beat up?
i agree that getting upset over hair color insults is stupid, but this is not the case at all

Problem is the bullying party would be a majority of the class, bullying isn't a simple issue especially when the party being bullied is universally reviled by the rest as is quite often the case.

In my experience, ignoring it just makes it worse, because they'll just try harder to get a reaction. Plus, this guy wasn't just being taunted or insulted, he was being physically assaulted by these scumbags. I find the teachers even more disgusting though, for allowing these bastards to continue bullying him.
If this were america at least the kid would have the option to shoot up the place.

Are you seriously suggesting he should have shot the place up?
Are you seriously suggesting he should have shot the place up?
Pfft, Of course he's serious.
You mean you didn't shoot up a school when you were a kid? pussy.
I didn't even know they bullied red-haired people, what the hell
Problem is the bullying party would be a majority of the class, bullying isn't a simple issue especially when the party being bullied is universally reviled by the rest as is quite often the case.
Then that says ALOT about your school now doesn't it? Schools should be a place where bright young people can bring out their potential, not a place where people with differences get the shit beat out of them.
One of my good friends is a ginger and he is awesome. He is not being bullied in any way.
Another ginger I know a bit is the same way, he is not really bullied for being a ginger, more of his personality sometimes. But even that happening is so low.
He probably was being bullied for being good and he being a ginger just added more to it. Sad to see that happen but what the fuck can you do against those bullies? They are there, they have always been and nobody ever does something against them. Just talking to their parents/guardians wont sadly work, they will bully even more because they have been grounded or something and it is somehow the kids fault.

Yeah, I don't go to school anymore.
But what is and what should be are two separate creatures.
Congratulations, you just showed the bullies that if they try hard enough, they can win.
Good job.

"plus i had a good circle of mates?"
Yeah notice the difference between this kid and you?
The bullies should be taught in isolation instead; the rest of the class should not suffer their flippantry. Also, the bullies need to be made an example of; humiliated and degraded to the point where they shriek in terror at the sheer thought of bullying someone, an example to warn the children agaisnt being little asshats, thus saving a generation from being infected by the memetic DISEASE that is douchebaggery.
This is why I hate zero tolerance policies. Kid A can bully Kid B all they want. Even if kid B 'rats/snitches/tattles' on Kid A for it, the school won't do anything, ever, because they aren't breaking any major rules. And name calling certainly doesn't fit the zero tolerance rule. But if Kid B gets tired of it, and decks the absolute shit out of Kid A. Kid B gets suspended/expelled/sent to a remedial school while kid A (At the high school I went to) gets 3 days Out of School Suspension for fighting, even if he didn't throw a punch, he was still involved
The whole system is fucked up. Victims can't really do anything, and when they do, get punished
Why in the shit are the bullies left free to continue edication while he gets isolated? Where's the fairness in that?
Only reasonable explanation would be that the entire class is bullying him, which if it's the case, means the school is a bloody disgrace for letting an entire class behave like that (during lessons, no less)
Man, fuck bullies.
Why aren't those that bully punished? It's always the victim the schoolboard tries to fix.
Story of my elementary life right there.
Sorry but i actually know the area (Yate) in which the school is as it's near Bristol... and all i can say is it has to be the most miserable, dark and horrible shithole on earth (after Milton Keynes that is). I'm not surprised this has happened and the good outcome of all this is that he won't have to study in Yate (there's only 1 secondary school in Yate). Believe me this place makes the worst council estate in England look like fucking Barbados
lmfao where do you get your facts from? There's three secondary schools within a mile of Yate. THREE. YIA is but one of them, you bloody idiot.
I feel sorry for the kid, but I always find it awkward when someone in an article has the same name as me.

Don't worry, I'm not that boy.
[editline]25th January 2012[/editline]
Just because I'm a fire wizard doesn't mean I have red hair.
Man, fuck bullies.

Because school teachers just don't take bullying over hair colour seriously despite it being on par with racism.
You can see it in his eyes, he clearly has no soul.
I really don't understand this, why would this kid, who gets bullied be moved elsewhere when it should be the bullies who should be removed, or even charged with assault/etc.
If I was the kid, I'd just dye my hair.
Wow, it's an average hard-working kid with ginger hair.
Bullies and the poor bastard need mental rehab (and a good smack on the bullies' arses).
No one (including the sun.. sensationalist headlines) seems to realise this kid would be bullied whether or not he has ginger hair.

Am I the only one that doesn't really get the whole ginger hate/bullying?
Why are they bullying him because of his hair color?
I have red hair, but it's a dark auburn. I've only been picked on because of it once, and that's because some fat ugly kid was jealous. If you have a dark red, people love it. Seriously.
