That literally would be illegal in Ontario, because we have mandatory minimum prices for booze. It's actually rather bullshit. Beer is literally taxed 40%, and the minimum price for a pack of 24 bottles is $30.
Smirnoff costs $25 a bottle. The statistically cheapest way to get drunk in Ontario is a bottle of 20% ABV Sherry that costs $7.95. It is also the only thing I've ever put in my mouth that has made me want to immediately puke.
Someone please remind me that moonshine would probably be a very profitable business up in Canada... :v:

Importing booze from the States into Canada would involve import taxes. Of course, people sneak that shit in all the time and profit from it.

Finishing off unwatched or abandoned drinks.

There's a minimum price in Scotland I think, 50p per UK unit? It hasn't happened in England because the government said it would make no changed to binge drinking and only punish responsible drinkers (because drinks like wine would shoot up in price)

nein - it's not in effect yet
a £5 wine would be 10 units which is about regular cost for that strength (12.5% off my head)
i saw 10 biere d'ors for £2.50 once. i got pished and dropped my remaining 6 on the floor outside my flat which spelled an end to bargain booze for me
Cheapest place we have here in Sydney is a bar that does $4 drinks till like 11pm. And it is, literally, the grottiest, scummiest, dirtiest, gross place I can imagine.
Biere Deluxe is the ultimate getting completely rat-arsed on pennies drink.

"A bottle of the house red."
A club in London wanted me to pay 36 quid for 4 shots of vodka. Fucking piss take.
£1 drink whaaaaaat?
A place down in Portsmouth does £6 double vodka and coke :suicide:
I remember asking for a double vodka and energy drink in Tiger in Portsmouth and was then told it would cost me £6.60. A single vodka and energy drink? £6.00 :suicide:
Portsmouth is both expensive and shit, it's great. The nastiest nightclub down town is probably the Fuzzy Duck, and even then the drinks aren't amazingly cheap

Only thing I drink is fuzzy is the jugs we get from going in as a society. Can't actually think of anywhere that actually does drinks for a reasonable price. Get smashed in the student union then go out is the cheap way
Manchester Wednesdays at 5th Avenue it's £3.50 entry and 90p jaeger bombs
[editline]10th November 2014[/editline]
The south is too expensive for drink seriously.
This reminds me I should drink more to cope with life

The front of it looks like the building that houses the restrooms at one of the local parks here while the back of it looks like a warehouse(it wouldn't surprised if it was one).
I would probably mistake it for a strip club.
How are they making money, it's like they only sell Best Choice alcohol. :v:
[sp]I used to work in a grocery store and Best Choice is a store brand that sells pretty much anything if you were unaware, it literally couldn't get any cheaper. Best Choice, the right choice.[/sp] :v:

Don't whine. Here in sweden we have the worst alcohol tax imaginable.

This place just looks so extremely boring. Everyone seems to look like they are forced to go there.

it'll be the costco vodka. all the cheap places shift it, 1.5L bottles for the optics. easy peasy.
I never understood the whole "Drinks have to cost more so people will drink less!!"
No, it doesn't work that way.
If I go downtown, I'll burn through $200 on a night to reach a proper level of drunk.
Not to mention the endless amounts of drinks that I've gotta hand out to flirts and friends.
I personally loved it in Berlin with €2 for half a liter of beer, 'cause every night was super cheap.

The governments should really stop giving so much of a crap how people decide to enjoy themselves as long as nobody else is hurt.

Used to be 80p but that's Cameron's Britain for you.
Don't whine. Here in sweden we have the worst alcohol tax imaginable.
Well, you got Kopparberg, so it evens out.
as long as nobody else is hurt.
This is why they are giving a crap. Drunk people tend to hurt themselves and other people, and it's easier to over drink if your drinks are super cheap.
Not that I think making the drinks more expensive really stops people who drink to get shitfaced drunk, just leaves people with less money after a night out. I guess if you're really strapped for cash then you can't get super drunk.
I don't approve the government stepping in and telling people what they can and can't do in regards to their own bodies, but if you're going to hurt yourself being stupid and getting drunk, the taxpayers are going to have to cover your hospital bill or someone else's because treatment is covered by the NHS. I think like cigarettes, drinks should be taxed based on their projected cost to society. I do think however that if a better system can be thought of that doesn't penalise responsible drinkers for the behaviours of the irresponsible then I would rather that than general price hikes.
I'm pretty sceptical of bars that charge a relatively large entry fee in exchange for drastically reduced drink prices, I think it creates a situation that encourages people to go past what they can reasonably handle in order to get the most out of having paid the entry fee else they feel like they haven't gotten a good deal.
entry. Quite steep but then when you think about the cheap drink it probably balances out
Edit: Just saw the pictures of the place, what a shithole, fuck that
honestly not worth, there are plenty of places in the city here that have $3 basics and are free entry
cheap drinks encourage binge drinking - not everyone is as mature and responsible as you, facepunch

200 bucks in one night on drinks just to get drunk? Holy fuck.
