cheap drinks encourage binge drinking - not everyone is as mature and responsible as you, facepunch
Pretty much this coupled with the fact that Britain has a deeply ingrained drinking culture.
200 bucks in one night on drinks just to get drunk? Holy fuck.
About the same in London, I've ended up paying £10 for a bottle of beer before

If you just go to standard bars (and not nightclubs) I'd say it's more like $40-50 on an average night, but I generally don't get that drunk, since I'm cycling home and I just want to get in a good mood.
And I thought I was lucky getting a pint for less than £4
hey guys let's all go out to hive one night?
That literally would be illegal in Ontario, because we have mandatory minimum prices for booze. It's actually rather bullshit. Beer is literally taxed 40%, and the minimum price for a pack of 24 bottles is $30.
Smirnoff costs $25 a bottle. The statistically cheapest way to get drunk in Ontario is a bottle of 20% ABV Sherry that costs $7.95. It is also the only thing I've ever put in my mouth that has made me want to immediately puke.
l love living on the border of Quebec.

I shed a tear inside at £3.50 for a drink, you're a brave/silly man
I dunno guys I think you're being a bit harsh. Sure it looks sketchy as fuck on the outside but the pictures of the inside don't look too bad.
And honestly, what do you expect from a place that (apparently) charges 12 quid to get in then 25 pence a drink? That's cheap as fuck.
The inside looks like a Chuck E. Cheese.
Everyone says it looks like a shithole.
But it looks like every single bar here. Well, some of them have less lights or 60 trillion blinking lights so you can't see how the place looks like but they're pretty much that. Even the ones I don't visit that have drinks that cost 8-9€ when other places sell the same shit for 2,60€.

Christ...and I thought my uni on-site nightclub thing raising their prices by a bit was awful. Dunno what the current SU think they're up to but every damn thing got on average a pound more expensive. Less people are buying drinks on nights out and just pre-drinking hard whilst torturing freshers in their flats.
