He's a vegan supporter of PETA, anti vaccine, and pro gun control. I'm ashamed for my country because of this knob.
Personally I'm more ashamed of it because of comments like this one but whatever floats your boat.
While I support Jim Carrey's right to speak his mind, couldn't he get sued for this? If he did it knowing that he could, he has some big balls. Props.
Didn't he realise that violence existed before sandy hook happened or what?
maybe seeing a tragedy involving young children dying in a massively syndicated news story while working on a film involving young children dying/killing made him feel bad and he just wants people to know he doesnt personally support that kind of violence anymore?
carrey never once says he thinks movies cause violence, but maybe, just maybe, the sandy hook incident hit home, and he made a personal choice, out of sympathy and guilt, to say he doesnt think that kind of violence is his cup-of-tea (he has kids)
This is exactly what I'm refering to when I use the term "bleeding heart liberal".
stop treating this like "wow dumb actor thinks movies cause killings what an idiot, just keep making bloody/graphic films and keep your mouth shut"

people feel sympathy/empathy that make them feel bad because violence affects everyone differently
the horror
Don't be like this JC. I want you to still be funny and do funny movies.
I really dislike Jim Carrey. He's an anti-vaccine nutjob and I can only laugh at him in movies.
Charlton Heston was a putz anyhow.
Oh like when he went to march alongside MLK and was supporting his speeches?
Well Jim Carrey has recently turned into one of those We're all children of the world who need to love one another, Maaaan types.
Man that sure is an awful thing to be. Why can't he he love violence like a reasonable adult?
But school massacres are a rather recent or at least to say a modern phenomenon, wouldn't you say?
Besides, violence and crime has been in decline ever since forever, pretty much. But a burst of violence happening within a very brief time by a single gunman, it's.. different.
"The Bremen school shooting was a school shooting that occurred on June 20, 1913 at St. Mary's Catholic School (St.-Marien-Schule) in Walle, a quarter of Bremen, Germany. The gunman, 29-year-old unemployed teacher Heinz Schmidt from Sülze, indiscriminately shot at students and teachers, causing the death of five girls and wounding more than 20 other people, before being subdued by school staff. He was never tried for the crime and sent directly to an asylum where he died in 1932."

I'm sure if he's so against the message this movie sends then he'll have no problems returning his paycheque so he's not "profiting off of violence."
Man that guy doesn't like violent movies? WHAt a Fucker
he should keep his FUC KING mouth shut I Am SO GODDAM mad at him

who knows, maybe he will
This seems a bit unnecessary given how comically over the top Kickass is, but at least he's not being a prick about it.

no you don't understand. not eating meat and not liking violent movies personally offends me for some reason. When his friends are all like "hey we're gonna go watch Dredd" and he's all like "no thanks" he might as well be breaking into my house and slapping my dick out of my hand.

Well I understand it when people don't like that he supports PETA and is anti-vaccine...but that's not what this thread is about either :v:
I thought that was pretty funny. Charlton Heston was a putz anyhow.
How so?
How so?
the guy thought there was a "war on white, christian, straight, gun-owning men"
talked about his love for guns constantly, and his devout christianity
said that gun violence was due to too many blacks/hispanics
he did good things but his personal opinions were racist and homophobic, and he was pretty much a non-violent white supremacist
the song makes fun of hypocrisy of being racist and supporting it with his faith, yet his rabid support of guns which go against his christian preaching
Jim Carrey is a talentless hack anyways.
He was fantastic in "In Living Color".

sorry but what does "withdraws support" actually mean? He's not going to advertise it?
If he actually gave a shit about violence in movies and how they might relate to school shootings and all that nonsense, he wouldn't have participated in the movie in the first place.

he filmed kick ass a month before the sandy hook tragedy, it has maybe traumatized him or something like that.

Still in the 20th century at least.
So what, it emotionally affected him and he doesn't feel right doing it. Why does that put him in the wrong? You lot need to grow up.

Like I said, if he actually cared about violent movies relating to shootings like the one in Sandy Hook (or any of the other sixteen mass shootings in the US during 2012) he wouldn't have acted in the movie in the first place.

Lmao..how exactly does being a firearms enthusiast go against christianity?
"Guns are EEEVUL..THEY CHOSE WHO THEY MURDER!!"
Still in the 20th century at least.
well how far back do you want to go? because you might have a point, there were no school shootings before state education and firearms became popularised!

did you personally not say anything about being anti-vaccination on purpose? or are you basically agreeing that is pretty stupid as well lol
So does this mean Kickass 2 is not featuring him, orrr?
I mean I know he changed his mind after Sandy Hook, but.. It's a movie. It's not telling kids, or anyone to go out and do whatever they do in the movie.
You'd have to be clinically insane to follow what they'd do in Kickass(2)

he just perhaps feels emotional guilt for being in a movie that he feels glorifies child violence
i dont think he thinks the movie causes violence, he's never once hinted at that, i just think he feels uneasy with the product considering whats happened recently
