the guy thought there was a "war on white, christian, straight, gun-owning men" talked about his love for guns constantly, and his devout christianity said that gun violence was due to too many blacks/hispanics he did good things but his personal opinions were racist and homophobic, and he was pretty much a non-violent white supremacist the song makes fun of hypocrisy of being racist and supporting it with his faith, yet his rabid support of guns which go against his christian preaching
Really? Because here's Charlton Heston, the white supremacist: [t]http://www.cinemaretro.com/uploads/HESTON1961.jpg[/t] [t]http://www.danzfamily.com/archives/blogphotos/08/879-poitier-belafonte-heston.jpg[/t] [t]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e2/Heston_Baldwin_Brando_Civil_Rights_March_1963.jpg/300px-Heston_Baldwin_Brando_Civil_Rights_March_1963.jpg[/t]
its like a guy feeling regret for being in a movie centered terrorists blowing up an important building that releases a week after 9/11 he knows the movie doesnt cause terrorism, and the filming occurred before the incident, but there is still that internal empathy.
I can't not love Jim Carrey. He gave me Dumb and Dumber! That movie was like my childhood.
I hope he doesn't believe that violent media make people more violent. I wasn't really interested in this movie but its unfortunate to see one of my favorite actors say something so silly.
After he did this I really don't care for him or what he does anymore.
Obviously that's your prerogative. Personally, even though I have nothing against guns and I have respect for Charlton Heston for his part in the Civil Rights Movement, I still find this funny as hell. Could be because I don't often give a damn about an actor's political beliefs and just look at stuff like this for the entertainment factor. OT: Pretty much, I'll keep watching Jim Carrey movies (older ones, at least) even though I disagree with him on a lot of things. He makes me laugh and that's all I care about in this case.
I thought that was pretty funny. Charlton Heston was a putz anyhow.
Charlton Heston championed integration and equal rights in Hollywood, marched alongside MLK, and even refused to sit in on a premier of one of his movies and instead joined the protest outside because the theater didn't allow African-Americans. Meanwhile Jim Carrey champions an anti-vaccination movement based on research proven to be fraudulent, as thousands of children continue to die from easily preventable diseases and makes jokes about a dead guy's character and penis size. You aren't allowed to go "Hur dur violence in America." While letting kids die of childhood diseases that should have been wiped out 30 years ago.
Why do actors feel compelled to comment on things they clearly don't know about?
Because for some inexplicable reason there's a portion of the general public that cares about celebrities' opinions
God this guy use to be funny What happened to him
maybe seeing a tragedy involving young children dying in a massively syndicated news story while working on a film involving young children dying/killing made him feel bad and he just wants people to know he doesnt personally support that kind of violence anymore? carrey never once says he thinks movies cause violence, but maybe, just maybe, the sandy hook incident hit home, and he made a personal choice, out of sympathy and guilt, to say he doesnt think that kind of violence is his cup-of-tea (he has kids)
Thinking about it, I guess he does have a point. In Kickass 2, the antagonists blew the heads off children and raped the protagonist's love interest. It's not really surprising when you realize that Mark Millar was the writer.
you guys are acting like the instant you buy a ticket to the film Jim Carrey teleports in front of you and rips it up
you basically just said anyone who has political opinions aside from politicians is just too dumb to know better and shouldn't be acknowledged in any capacity. he's famous and he uses his status to further whatever political goals or agendas he sees fit as almost anyone would. whether he's completely wrong about everything he says is another issue.
It's not as if he can't have an opinion on issues not related to his profession or speak his mind about them. It's just that his opinion really shouldn't matter more than your next door neighbor's. Or anyone else's, really. Difference is, he just has more people who are listening.
Why do actors feel compelled to comment on things they clearly don't know about?
The Lonely Island summed it up well.
Wait what How do you even know the movie isn't out yet Unless we're talking about a different Kickass
Likely talking about the comics.
But school massacres are a rather recent or at least to say a modern phenomenon, wouldn't you say? Besides, violence and crime has been in decline ever since forever, pretty much. But a burst of violence happening within a very brief time by a single gunman, it's.. different.
School shootings have been occuring since the 1760s http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_school_shootings_in_the_United_States
So what are they gonna do just cut every scene with him in it or reshoot it because it's kind of late in development..
The 90's are truly dead. Jim Carrey has turned into a douche. :(
Jim Carrey is honestly pretty stupid
I couldn't care less about what a hollywood celeb thinks.
