What? Would you rather have a country like North Korea own the world than America? You're just butthurt.
I'm guessing he prefers that no country owns the world.
EDIT: Which I agree would be a good thing, by the way. But I can't speak for Sanius.
This is free right?
I just hope China hasn't gone completely capitalistic yet.
Anyone have a DL link?
I'm guessing he prefers that no country owns the world.
Yeah, but I still think it's better if an America, or any powerful allied country (such as Russia or Canada) owned the world. I'm not saying China isn't powerful or allied just, they don't make the best decisions for the rest of the world.
I don't like this. America's Army just makes you fight generic middle eastern terrorists that our Army fights in real life. But Glorious Mission seems to be implying too much, implying that America is the enemy.
Other video games where China or Russia are the enemy are different-they're not government backed and simply appeal to Cold War era fantasies.
Are you trying to be funny or do you really not realize this is theoretical.
Neither.
Your original version of the post suggested that you thought the Soviet Union was Canada.
As in, Latest release of COD = Call of Duty Black Ops, which a good portion is spent in the Soviet Union.
I love how people in this thread think that simulated murder is okay as long as it's not backed by a government (America's Army is okay because America is #1). It makes my dick so hard.

If I had to choose someone to own the world, it would be either be, ideally, an impowered U.N, or failing that NATO. Then again, the US is a major, if not the major power in NATO...
EDIT: But really, I guess, the world shouldn't be anyone's to own.
...Which is no different than any other massively popular FPS. How is it suddenly not okay to kill virtual humans if they're American?
It's not about virtual, not real humans. It's about meaning and motive.
No one cares if the troops are virtual, but they care that they're American.
It makes you wonder about China's perception of America.
The chinese didn't give a shit about operation flashpoint: dr, so why should we care about this?

I can kill US troops in any modern war game. Hell, in any WW2 game either.
No it doesn't.
Im sure if the US government put out a game where you get to stomp Russians all day there would be some upset Russians.
Especially if we had our troops purposely playing it.

Well, if I remember rightly Russia wasn't particulary keen on Modern Warfare 2.
EDIT: Which isn't even by the US government. In fact, didn't Cuba kick up a fuss over Black Ops as well?

If Americans are the enemy in a Chinese Government backed Recruiting game, it makes you wonder what they actually think of us.
Why not use the Taliban?
Why not use a fake enemy?
I'll put this in bold for the people who have a hard time reading
Government Funded

Honestly the United States should think of it as a compliment. We're a foreign military the Chinese respect as formidable opposition, which is why we're the primary enemy in their new training shooter.

My point exactly. If those games were government backed, Im sure there would be even more of a fuss.
No it doesn't.
The government is sponsoring a game that lets you MURDER American soldiers, do you not see a tad problem with that
Call Of Duty =/= Americas Army
The hell are you on about?
The government is sponsoring a game that lets you MURDER American soldiers, do you not see a tad problem with that
Hundreds of millions of people play games that let you kill people. The fact that people are suddenly distraught because it's Americans that are being killed is fucking disgusting.
So 'KILL MIDDLE EASTERNS' is better than 'KILL AMERICANS' for what reason?
The middle easterners have oil.
My point exactly. If those games were government backed, Im sure there would be even more of a fuss.
But there shouldn't be! And, as I said, this is probably because China is trying to exert it's cultural dominance over the video game industry. It's not a sign that China wants to declare war on the US.
No it doesn't.
Government sponsored. Doesn't that ring any bells?
Who wouldn't want to shoot an American every now and then
Hundreds of millions of people play games that let you kill people. The fact that people are suddenly distraught because it's Americans that are being killed is fucking disgusting.
I dont give a shit that its Americans being killed. Americans get killed in plenty of games.
I give a shit that its Government sponsored and is about killing Americans. That pretty clearly indicates some animosity, does it not?
Hundreds of millions of people play games that let you kill people. The fact that people are suddenly distraught because it's Americans that are being killed is fucking disgusting.
Again, you fail to realize, this is a Government backed program, why would the Chinese pick Americans as the Enemy?
Why would they pick ANY country that isn't a threat?
Hundreds of millions of people play games that let you kill people. The fact that people are suddenly distraught because it's Americans that are being killed is fucking disgusting.
I don't care if the game is about killing Americans or anything. Every human is the same no matter what country they are from. But the key thing here is that the game is government sponsored to specifically be against Americans.
No it doesn't.
Yes it does, If I sold a comic book stating that any Chinese person should be shot, it would not equate to a government handing out said comic book.

Because they are worried about the effect that American games have over Chinese citizens, is my best guess. China survives on strictly controlling it's people in speech, mind and deed.
Yes it does, If I sold a comic book stating that any Chinese person should be shot, it would not equate to a government handing out said comic book.
This is China. The government has something to do with everything.

So you think the comparison of a entertainment company in a free market to the Chinese government is fair?
One is a piece of entertainment and the other is government sponsored propaganda.
