It's fucking on you Chinese sons of bitches. I'm reinstalling Battlefield 2.
I think it's fair enough. Plenty of Western games have the PLA as antagonists.
lol glorious mission i don't think anyone should read too much into this, i mean the killing in any game is so massively dehumanized you might as well be shooting puppets i don't think any of the soldiers playing the game really see what they are shooting in-game as actual americans
i don't think any of the soldiers playing the game really see what they are shooting in-game as actual americans
Yeah this is probably true
I think it's fair enough. Plenty of Western games have the PLA as antagonists.
But if you look at Mercenaries 2 and Battlefield Modern Combat, they both have American and Chinese endings. Operation Flashpoint is the only game I can currently think of that has a "one sided" approach to a Chinese-American conflict.
The amount of illiterate and downright ignorant posters in this thread worries me.
Hundreds of millions of people play games that let you kill people. The fact that people are suddenly distraught because it's Americans that are being killed is fucking disgusting.
You especially.
Yeah this is probably true
i just realized what an atrocious run on sentence that was
Need more anti-western games, IMO [editline]18th May 2011[/editline] Hamas made a game on the Cryengine where you play a dude running around killing Isreali's like rambo, which was pretty funny.
The amount of illiterate and downright ignorant posters in this thread worries me. You especially.
I'm sorry, but these kinds of posts are not helpful at all, you don't even specify what side you think is illiterate and downright ignorant
It'd still be just name-calling if he did specify that. [editline]18th May 2011[/editline] I think it's better this way. Everyone can feel equally insulted.

Dear China, Please stop using the word "glorious". Thank you bye.
Games should not be made for the purpose of Anti-[insert enemy here] Propaganda is underhanded at the best of times.
Why not. Literally every blockbuster FPS is a U.S military wank fest, surely the other side needs some love.
I'm sorry, but these kinds of posts are not helpful at all, you don't even specify what side you think is illiterate and downright ignorant
Posts like these:
...Which is no different than any other massively popular FPS. How is it suddenly not okay to kill virtual humans if they're American?

Cuz america said so and they be the boss of the world apparently

The only reason people are offended is because they feel that America basically owns the world.

Hundreds of millions of people play games that let you kill people. The fact that people are suddenly distraught because it's Americans that are being killed is fucking disgusting.
Illiterate they must be.
"Glorious Mission" What a propagandist name for a game.
Those posts aren't illiterate or ignorant
Posts like these: Illiterate they must be.
literacy would be the ability to read and write, so to call people's written posts an indication of illiteracy is literally complete non-sense
Why not. Literally every blockbuster FPS is a U.S military wank fest, surely the other side needs some love.
MW2: Army officers turn out to be corrupt Army of Two: US PMC company is corrupt Alpha Protocol: US secret agency is corrupt Read this: NOT GOVERNMENT SPONSORED That's the big difference between a game about US vs Russia made by Activision and a game about China vs US by the Chinese government.
I have to agree, It would be more amusing to play Homefront if you played as the North Koreans for example, Or one that you're a civilian in a middle eastern country trying to avoid to get killed by the American Forces in a Chopper
I'd like a game where you play as a German soldier in WWII
You might be able to get official sponsorship for non-commercial games where you shoot russians, europeans, chinese, australians and/or yourself as long as it's considered art.
It's a little weird seeing it from the other perspective (US as enemy)
The US sponsored a game where you fight Russian Soldiers, America's army, it seems to be based on the architecture of the whole game and the characteristics of the constructed language used by the enemies
They aren't Russians
I'd like a game where you play as a German soldier in WWII
Somehow its not as offensive when its a game based on an actual conflict. Unfortunately the Moral Guardians would get upset about the Nazi sympathizer video game corrupting our youth. [editline]17th May 2011[/editline]
The US sponsored a game where you fight Russian Soldiers, America's army, it seems to be based on the architecture of the whole game and the characteristics of the constructed language used by the enemies
They don't have any nationality, they are a generic terrorist enemy in a vaguely middle-eastern setting.
Actually the U.S Army gave blueprints and plans to the COD artists, and for that to happen they basically have to hear about your pitch of the game/movie and deem it positive to the US image. So the game is essentially, government approved. And just because something is corrupt, doesn't mean it's anti-western. In the end, all those games (Medal of Honour 2010, Call of Duty, Battlefield 3 will no doubt have something like this, Homefront) go something like. "we've been destroyed.... by the enemy... but with our strength and faith we will pull through.....!" and the next level scene is you holding off like 1000 arabs/ethnic group (who are using flimsy weapons no doubt) and then the Heroic Attack Helicopter saves the day/the 40 million dollar jet blows the shit out of them and everyone's earned their deserved victory.
"Glorious Mission" What a propagandist name for a game.
Some sources translated it as "Mission of Glory", which sounds rather like, well, certain other shooters: "Call of Duty" "Medal of Honor" Just saying. Also, I'm surprised nobody's arguing over MY post. Hell, I all but said China is going to take over. Nobody's going to flame over that?

I thought "Glorious *noun*" was trademarked by Best Korea?
I'd like a game where you play as a German soldier in WWII
Red Orchestra actually. I believe in the 2nd one coming out this year, there will be a campaign on both sides as far as I know.
Red Orchestra 2 was supposed to be out 2 years ago :smith:
Somehow its not as offensive when its a game based on an actual conflict. It isn't like you are playing a death camp guard or anything. [editline]17th May 2011[/editline]
Red Orchestra actually.
