The amount of illiterate and downright ignorant posters in this thread worries me.

It's probably best not to use words that you don't understand. "Illiterate" and "ignorant" do not mean "people who disagree with my childish opinion."
Actually the U.S Army gave blueprints and plans to the COD artists, and for that to happen they basically have to hear about your pitch of the game/movie and deem it positive to the US image. So the game is essentially, government approved.
Can you give an actual source to that part?

Do you understand what pompous means? You sure are acting like it.
Why is this news?
WHAT, YOU'RE SAYING THE CHINESE DON'T CONSIDER AMERICA A STRONG ALLY?
STOP THE PRESSES!
Makes me wonder what games they're playing in North Korea.
(Note: that was a joke)
Playing as the "enemy" in games is an untapped gold mine I tell you, soon some company will make a killing from the concept, and it will all begin.
Oh, hey look!

GOVERNMENT FUNDED
Many people have pointed this out but it seems to be lost on some of you.

"Government Funded" is an opinion?
I remember seeing another game developed by Hamas or Hezbollah or someone and you fought against Israeli soldiers. In the trailer they portrayed one soldier as brutal by lifting a giant rock over his head and dropping it on someone. I think that would beat most of the Nazi imagery for pointless and hilariously bad violence.
Actually though I don't care. It's good to see other countries don't just complain about the west doing it and actually do it themselves. Good sports they are.

I can't find a videogame-specific example, but there's a long-running tradition of such things with movies, enough of one that I thought people just knew this.
I mean, why would they offer you something as a resource if it didn't benefit them in some way, and how can it benefit them beyond making them look good?
"Government Funded" is an opinion?
What? Literally nobody has denied that this is government funded. Nice attempt at grabbing straws though
What? Literally nobody has denied that this is government funded. Nice attempt at grabbing straws though
Your entire argument is a strawman, "Well these guys do it so it must be fine that these guys do it!"
Your entire argument is a strawman, "Well these guys do it so it must be fine that these guys do it!"
What? You're the fucking illiterate.
I've been saying the whole time that it's disgusting that people are suddenly freaking out about this even though it's no different than any other FPS. Shooting people is shooting people.
Your entire argument is a strawman, "Well these guys do it so it must be fine that these guys do it!"
no what you did just there is a strawman by trying to sum up his argument into one quantified statement that's easier to dispute
hypocrite

I am pretty sure there is a large difference between lending pictures of black hawks and actual black hawks.

no he isn't he just typed a post
if he was illiterate then he couldn't have made that post and he wouldn't be able to even read you calling him illiterate so this whole thing isn't working out guys i'm sorry
everyone leave, the show is over
lol don't rate me dumb doriol you know i'm right :smug:
What? Literally nobody has denied that this is government funded. Nice attempt at grabbing straws though
But you're missing the whole goddamn point: If it's government funded, and the enemies are Americans, chances are fucking high that China's government has got some animosity towards America (more than we already thought, to be specific), and that DOESN'T CONCERN YOU???
I am pretty sure there is a large difference between lending pictures of black hawks and actual black hawks.
what would a videogame company do with an actual black hawk
what would a videogame company do with an actual black hawk
The article in question deals with the pentagon lending actual military equipment to film makers.
Activision probably got some good pictures of the equipment at best.

he's saying that it shouldn't concern anyone because it's not a serious threat or anything just like how operation flashpoint isn't a serious threat towards chinese or russians
he's basically calling you dramatic

be honest, that's something you don't really know at all

I really don't think that they shipped actual vehicles to Activision, Weapons are a possibility but vehicles seem dubious when you consider the fact a picture doesn't require thousands of dollars in transportation.
But then again I don't know 100%.

yeah but hands-on research with military gear isn't anything new at all
you can just put in a word to a military camp administrator and if they like your idea you'd probably be able to schedule time with their reserve gear
you're acting as if it's some radical concept when it really isn't
For anyone wondering the game is called "Misson of Honor"
Here is a Chinese news report with gameplay: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evElowKTLn0 it starts at around the 10 second mark and really doesn't look that bad.

There is a large difference between reference pictures and actually having vehicles run on set being filmed for theatrical release.
I don't refute the fact that they used references given by the Pentagon but it seems unlikely the usage of the vehicles would even come close to that of transformers or black hawk down.
Sanius likes to ignore the main point others are trying to get across that:
The Chinese Government is portraying the Americans as Enemies
he's saying that it shouldn't concern anyone because it's not a serious threat or anything just like how operation flashpoint isn't a serious threat towards chinese or russians

Operation Flashpoint wasn't Gummn't Funded. It was the game dev's choice to place Russians as the enemy (and even then it was a splinter-group that broke off from the main Soviets because they felt the USSR wasn't being forceful enough. And this is me talking about the very first game, by the way.). It's a bit different with a game that's basically a recruitment program.
If America's Army had Chinese as the enemies it would create a bit of a shit, why shouldn't this?
The "Terrorists" are our enemies because we are openly fighting wars on terror.

Holy shit. I've literally never said anything that would even indicate that I think otherwise. Sorry for not being a fucking alarmist retard who thinks China wants to kill every American in cold blood.

but not really
